That looks like a Russian Ural outfit. Very cool. From the pic looks like it is painted panzer gray. You can buy them in the states. I used to drag a ural car around on my BMW /2. Tons of fun! Stay safe out there.

Yep, looks like a Ural to me also. From what I understand they are not very fast but a hoot to ride (drive?). Also a big problem in the States is that every Tom, Dick, and Harry wants to stop and talk to you. Not bad if you're feeling social but it you just wanna ride I bet it is a PITA.

I sure wish I could figure out how to get one of these bikes back to the US. Some of the Iraqis that I work with could get me one if I asked. I have always wanted an old looking Military looking bike. About how much would one of these cost if I was to buy one in the US?

A brand new Gear Up all decked out looks like 14k or sohttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-2010-URAL-GEAR- UP-W-REVERSE-AND-FREE-FREIGHT-YOU-/280586821277?pt =US_motorcycles&hash=item4154471e9d

But you can get used much cheaper. From when I looked at getting one myself I learned to stay away from anything older than '02 b/c prior to that they used only Russian parts and they were not very reliable....to say the least. But after '02 that started outsourcing many components like ignitions and such.

Be careful of stuff that is imported unofficially.
You may not be able to register it once you finally get it!

For instance:
My old Honda Civic was a Canadian model with a manual choke on the dash and no catalytic converter.
In order for me to get a carb rebuild kit, I had to go to Montreal to get it!

It was illegal to sell me the kit in the USA and that specific carb (2 barrel with a vacuum secondary) was not used in the 1986 USA Hondas.

All I'm saying is if some drone behind a desk types in the DNPR's V.I.N. and it comes up "Invalid" you're in for a hell of a time : )

Did anyone notice that the Dnepr in the eBay listing has exceptional problem solving abilities?

I may buy the bike just to have an alernative to cable.

"Ok Dnepr, this is a Rubik's cube. Show me what you've got."

I'd like to have it just have something to help the kids with their homework.
