So in late august i took a ride down to my dealer to get a tire mounted (yes i know its ez to do myself and yes i'm lazy but its a nice 80 mile ride so why not)and on the way home the bike starts bucking ,losing power ,stalling ,check eng light etc.. i trailer t down to the dealer the next day and theres no codes and he can't duplicate the problem. so i drive back down take it for a 40 mile ride on the hwy and it starts up in exactly the same place and i turn around and head back. they talk to buell tech support and change the 02 sensors. i trailer the bike home and go for a ride and within 1 mile it starts acting up again. and back to the dealer we go and this time their changing the wiring harness which is taking forever to get. Don't get me wrong the dealers been aces with me , they must have 30 hrs labor in the bike so far trying to diagnose the bike but i missed buelltoberfest and hh6 so I'M FRUSTRATED AND I WANT MY FARKING BIKE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol thanks for listening to my rant and on a side note i picked up a 08 vstrom yesterday so i can get rides in while the ulys in the shop. what a difference ,its a nice bike but it's like going from driving a mustang to a toyota camry |

My Uly is in the shop too. The idle was hanging at 2000 at stops. so far they replaced the idle and throttle cables, air sensor, and now intake seals. I hope to get my bike back today. They are overnighting the parts. Meanwhile I'm on the X1 which is my oldest bike and the thing runs like a champ but the wear bars on the back tire are very visiable. Should I ride another day on the X1? No cords showing yet, I will not ride on cords. |

K - a hanging idle on my 06 could always be fixed by a TPS reset and tweak on the idle adjust cable. I have ECMSpy and the cable if you ever want to do a reset... And what wheels on the X1? If they're PMs, I have a 180 tire that I'm getting pulled off today. I had to buy a tire in Bristol VA coming home from BTF, and while I like the Continental...it's just not right for the Uly. Getting a 616 swapped on today. Conti has less than 500 miles on it. I was going to keep it as the "next" tire for the CR (I actually do like its profile and handling), but if you need one...we can work something out, I'm sure |

I've got the 3,000 mile dunlops on the X1 front tire needs to be replaced too but back tire is on its last leg thanks for the offer. I've got to buy a set for the other X1 too No more Dunlops! I like the Corsa. For the ULY sometime after the new year I am going to buy the Erik Buell Racing ECm for it and change out the triple trees. |

Give the Bridgestone's BT023 a try. I've ridden on them (other folks bikes) and mounted up at least 3 sets on different bikes. Everyone loves them. To top it off, they are pretty cheap as far as tires go. As soon as my S2's tires are toast I'm going to mount up a set of 023's. BTW, just mounted a set of 616's on the Uly. A well worn set of Conti's came off... big difference. The 616's are not as stable as the Continentals. They twitch around at highway speeds on diamond milled roads. The Conti's were stable as a rock even in their overly worn state. Other than that, I like them. Despite their thicker tread, they heat up well. The corner grip is good. Although I've not pushed them to the edges, I think they will be fine. Plus, I don't have to white knuckle it down unpaved roads! Brad |

Hey Dcc46, I had a similar sounding problem with my 08 Uly, solution was new ECM. I had about 11,000 miles on the odo and no problems up to this point. Turned out to be a small hairline crack where one of the connectors attached to the ECM. I was in the middle of a 5000 mile trip, at first dealer I described problem, but no codes were thrown and apparently if there are no codes there are no problems. I couple of hundred miles later, started to run on one cylinder, got towed to another dealer, this time it threw a code for O2 sensor (none in stock) and tech thought maybe the gas smelled funny so they drained and replaced gas. I took it for a 50 mile test loop with no big issues though something just didn't feel right. So on down the road about 180 miles started bucking and loosing power again, made it to a motel where it stalled and would not restart. 50 mile tow to another dealer, they spent about 6 hours attempting to diagnose the problem before they noticed the crack at the connector site and replaced my ECM with one from a bike off the sales floor. I have had no problems since that time. Might be something to look at. Good luck |

yep Redwing it sounds like the exact same symptoms, bike has 9600 miles currently andthe dealer wanted to change the ecm when they do the wiring harness but HD wouldn't spring for it.it's under warranty until Sept 2016 so they will eventually get it right. |

Same problem with mine and it turned out to be a hairline crack in the ecm also. |

I have not had that problem, and I do not have a crack in my ECM. Using my powers of deduction, I conclude that you must have a cracked ECM. |

K - if you want to demo a Uly with an Erik Buell Racing computer in it (otherwise stock bike)...come on by. After Tuesday. I didn't get a chance to get the tire swapped yesterday, I was stuck at work because I forgot to ask a customer "what time zone" when he said he'd be there at eleven to pick up his RV and was THREE HOURS LATE....(insert expletives here). So, Tuesday is my new rear tire day and the bike is currently wheel-less on PitBulls. But once that's done...you're welcome to a ride! |

I hate to say this but these stories are starting to sound just a little too familiar to Me. The dealer still has mine in the back of there place just sitting there .They don't know what to do with it http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/591381.html |

I've got to teach this week, but the week after I might be in frederick with a private lesson. So I will get back with you on trying your ULY out. I rode the crap out on mine teaching Total control this year and taking other schools on it like Ride Like a Pro. Latest on my ULY in the shop was they replaced both idle and throttle cables, air sensor and now they are replacing the intake seals. the seals were supposed to be overnight but they say didn't show up so I asked them not to charge me for the expensive shipping since the part didn't come in. My gut feelings is the part is there but didn't reach the mechanic's workbench quick enough so my bike got taken off the lift and somebodies HD got the lift |

Sorry to hear about the issues with the 2010. So far I'm at 7K with no issues at all and I love the bike. Butt....... If i get stranded even once, it's going down the road and I'll be going to the yamaha shop once again. My 2003 FJR has 60K with not one issue ever. |

I have the 2007 Uly it left me stranded once on a trip to Memphis, I've got about 25,000 miles on it now this is the second problem with it, idle hangs at 2 grand once warmed up, I've been living with it this riding season. the ULY is such a durable bike I love it! It is Bone stock. no upgrades at all except for some cosmetic things. FJR I know someone who has one he is at 80,000 or more now |

K - I also have to recommend the Conti Motion. That's what they put on my bike in Bristol. It was cheap (same as "my" price on a 616 here at home), I like the profile a LOT, the transitions are very nice, and it sticks really well. I'm down to less than 1/4" chicken strip, and that's in 500 miles with leaves all over the roads and fully loaded. No idea how it does in the rain, though...or for mileage. But I'm keeping it, probably toss it on the CR when it needs new shoes. |

conti Motion for the X1's ? I looked at the web on the BT023's and I might go for them another guy at Summit Point was talking them up too. Next part for the ULY is a front wave rotor. I've been ignoring the pulsing for a long time now. Any suggestions? DCC46 hang in there man I was the biggest squeaky wheel they had when my ULY was in the shop, I got it back today call them every single day and if they overnight parts and they don't make it make them pay for it. I tell them if they can't get a part I will and bring it to them it gives me a little more control on when my bike gets on the lift. Being a Buell owner in a HD world it always take forever to get the bike done that's why I have multiple BUELL disorder |

I'd have to look, but I'm pretty sure there's a Motion in a 170 for the castalloy's (if you have PM's, you run a 180 anyway). And my Uly rotor is pulsing...I'm going 6mm from Erik Buell Racing when I get some money put aside, with their new mount kit. I think it totals something like $175 shipped. |

Oh, and the new tire's on the Uly whenever you want to try out the ECM. Scuffed it in for about 50 miles today, too (damn doc's appointment, getting in the way of my riding!!)... |

Yeah I have PMs on the X1 I'm jumping on the 6mm thread now HD tried to sell me there rotor I wouldn't even hear the price I told them I'm buying aftermarket only. Right now the ULY is running really good I rode it last night and today coming into work I've got a really good Buell tech. |

One more cracked ECM to report.... does not throw error codes, so "it CAN'T be the ECM!!!" Well, at least I got a whole slew of new parts before they looked at the ECM. |

My '09X has been in since March, and the dealer is mostly befuddled I think. Fortunately I didn't trade in the Blast when I bought it. |

Got mine back today they had it 2 weeks and pretty much didn't do anything but tighten up some bolts and wash it. Three trips and they still couldn't figure out how to flash the ecm for the comfort kit- and I even told them AGAIN to flash it as an XT. They said they wont do it anymore and I have the latest flash. Worthless..... They used to be a good dealer but since the shutdown they have pretty much, well... shutdown. I am going to be doing all my service work again from now on. I guess the positive thing is that the Uly got it's first bath since I have owned it. |
