I gotta admit when I first caught wind of this bike I got a big woody. Then I started reading about how they are already building a 1200 triple version to compete with the BMW GS. WHen will the madness stop. First it was the new Multistrada, now this!!!!!!Then I rode my Buell and thought, no matter how good these new bikes are the Uly seems to have captured the pure essence of the rider / machine magic that is motorcycling. Guess I will let the newness of my lust for the Triumph wain and move on to the new supermodel, until then I will spend quality time with my front wheel in the air on the Uly.

MMMmmmmm, 21" front tire, with what appears to be a wide and flat seat? Too bad that exhaust screams NO EFFICIENT LUGGAGE FOR YOU!

The right side saddlebag will be compromised somewhat, just like the left one on a GS. Not a deal breaker for me if the rest of the package is as tasty as it looks. I'd like to see the rest of the specs, especially fuel capacity.

Comment off the website: "A BMW 800, but not for queers".

I don't guess they'll have one for the upcoming shows in Nov/Dec. I'd like to see one up close and personal.

I spoke to the Memphis dealer and the Jackson Ms dealer about a month back. Both thought the bikes would be stateside for sale around March.

Got a 06' 955 Tiger - that triple is a sweet motor. I think the f800GS is gonna have some competition. Way to go Hinckley!

Local dealer told me he was headed out to the dealer demo to ride it in January.. That would make Marchish release seem about right.

I think I read somewhere that the new motor for this bike is a 'massaged' version of their 675cc mill from their streetbike line.

I know others have spoken highly re: the old and new Tiger plants but I don't recall if I've ever heard anyone say anything, + or -, re: the 675's.

Then I started reading about how they are already building a 1200 triple version to compete with the BMW GS.

Don't hold your breath, I asked the local Triumph dealer about that. He told me it was a myth. Of course maybe I just stepped in it...

He did confirm the 800 though, and now that I see it I like it, a lot.

Nice bike - I imagine it would be smoother than an 800 twin. But I would be concerned about dealer support. I have 4 Harley dealers within 45 min. of me and it's two hours to the closest Triumph/BMW/Ducati dealer.

I can imagine dealers are pretty thin pickin's across the country, as well.

Just a thought.

Personally, I would probably rather deal with a Triumph/BMW/Ducati dealer 2 hours away then deal with most HD dealers, no matter how close they are.

Triumph dealers seems to be pretty common. I'm sure there are more HD and Big 4 dealers, but there are at least more Triumph dealers than Buell.

It has been several years now, but Triumph had actually surpassed Honda at some point (which had been numero uno for years) in the early part of the decade with a customer satisfaction study (rates reliability, support, etc.). Don't know if they stayed on top or near since then, but it is interesting to note. The report was in Motorcycle Consumer News, but I'm sure it was like a JD Powers or someone similar who conducted the study.

Oh, and I DIG that 800. I hope it has a generous gas tank.

Better keep it out of the mud. Look at the clearance between front tire and fender.

Pretty cool that they've got a more street-oriented model with a 19" front wheel and a dirt-oriented model with a 21" front wheel.

Looks like whoever made the front turning signals for the Buell 1125r found a new customer to sell them to.

Nice pics, but my question is; why the "F" to they get Scorpion Trails and we don't. Has anyone noticed that the Scorpion Trail rears run through every size option, but conveniently skip right over 180? It's almost like a conspiracy to deprive Uly riders of a decent tire option.

Hangetsu- I think several guys have run the available 190/55-17 rear Scorpion Trail with no problems.

I'm running the Trails now. Work like a champ. No clearance issues. Handle very well. Brought my speedo closer to actual speed as well.

Seems to be plenty of space to me.

I don't think you will see another Dual sport from Buell for a very long time.

Erik Buell Racing is clearly more focused on the paved track than the single track.

FT BSTD - I believe he was making reference to the crescent fender riding the wheel, vice the distance between the wheel and the body.
