I showed my girlfriend the Cycleworld article and the first thing she says is "uum(kind of a growl), that looks nice" next thing she says after I read her the first paragraph,"just for fun, lets buy stock" So I explain to her that the tee shirt sales are what fund the racing program and she says, no, I want ownership! Gosh she sounds like H-D! | ||

We could start an "owners association stock fund" like Cerberus - the three headed dog guarding the gates of hell - they owned Chrysler for a while. Maybe we can call it Ulysses Investment Strategies. | ||

Ah, that makes sense now. HD still owns the Buell name, that's why Eric is planning on marketing any new street entry under the Erik Buell Racing logo. This is all about as real as it gets, can't wait for the official announcement after the non-compete clause ends in 2011. | ||

There is no non-compete. There are some intellectual property issues but nothing that'll slow anything down . . . it all, quite frankly, makes better internet banter fodder than it poses hurdles. The intellectual property relates to old Buell stuff . . . . Erik will not be building old Buell motorcycles and the goal is not to "get back" to some place in history. | ||

For my part I really believe this bike and bikes like it could be a winner. This assumes Erik Buell Racing can get the price point in the range of Ducati or MV or maybe even Bimota. Of course this means money, not being an expert in these manners I think it'll be hard to find investors in todays economy. Yet poor economies don't last forever. | ||

The first run is going to be very limited production with some very expensive parts, both those necessary to make an 1190 out of an 1125 and that which is required to meet EPA and DOT standards. Unless some of this cost can somehow be subsidized I think it may be a few years before a competitive price point can be achieved. Those that can afford one of the first bikes though are going to have something very special. | ||

I have a garage full of old Buell stuff. Love every one of them. Waiting on new Buell stuff ( bikes ) Erik without limits will build bikes no other company could. | ||
