I have a heat shroud that I bought from our very own Dio and I have some questions. First, after many searches, I still need some answers if you could. First: with the stuffing method what exactly do I definitely need to unscrew, unhinge, disassemble to stuff the HEATED shroud into it's resting place? I know that the ECM screw is a bitch but what else. Also, I have an 09, will the standard side heat guards on the seat rails be needed after the install?

I can't help you with the "stuffing" method...as I removed my right seat rail and used the "slide in from the side" technique. To me it was worth the time required to remove a few extra bolts.

Just follow the directions...you may need to tweak the shroud slightly...but it is fairly straight forward. I put the bottom ECM nut onto the end of a long Allen wrench to hold it in place while the bolt was being threaded...was simple after that.

The air deflectors are no longer needed.

If stuffing, make sure the cowling is nice and warm, so if will flex, not crack!

I used the EG method, took the rails off. It takes longer, but the peace of mind was worth it.

You might want to consider waiting till next year at this point. The heat in the winter is nice to have. I'm even thinking of removing mine.

Have fun : )

Don't remove the front ecm bolt.
Don't loosen the hose at the shock adjuster.
I removed the battery tray and it wasn't too bad.
I had to trim the heat shroud around the fuel line.

I want to say that I think I had to (or did) remove the remote reservoir for the rear shock just to get it out of the way. Problem is, now, a year later, I don't recall if it was necessary. It was only a bolt or two and if I do recall, it gave me some needed knuckle clearance to get things 'squoze' in there.

Don't forget to install the clip for the preload adjuster tube in the shield before you install the shield. Once everything is back in place there's very little access to push that sucker in where it belongs.
