Hunn said it first - I dont ride at, or after dusk, unless there is NO other option. Had 1 hit & too many near misses, with Bambi's Mom & Dad. Also too many friends that have hit 'em - not to mention my riding buddy that hit a cow warming itself on the asphalt at night in Baja on a blind turn. Odds are just not in riders favor. I did the 'solder bridge' in headlight switch - both bulbs on ALL the time. |

Just lost one of our trucks a few weeks back to a cow. We looked for a brand on the bovine in hopes of telling from whence it came but there just wasn't enough left to even grill up. Ground beef. http://www.thegolfchannel.com/tour-insider/eulogiz ing-dear-friend-nationwide-tour-39600/ +1 on the "not after dark". We also seem to accumulate a fair share of cinder blocks and lumber on roads around here and I've never figured out why other than just rampant dumba$$, and Volusia county is all stocked up on stupid. |

I will be driving my STT every night to work through critter-intense areas of NorCal. This lighting situation is going to need a remedy before I ride to work the first time. Every single night I wait for deer, coyotes, racoons, skunks, turkey, opossums, dogs, cats, cows, and motherfarking river Otters to cross the road in front of me. This will be especially challenging on the STT with substandard lighting. I feel like my best bet is to HID the factory housings and fab up a light bar for two more lights. I'm thinking about those Sol Tek Baja lights for the light bar. Thank you guys for documenting your struggles. I'll be sure to post my own situation when I get to it. ...Turkey buzzards, hawks, the odd eagle, owls of three sizes, drunk Ammo troops..... My dangers are many. |

The DDM HID's with the highbeam mod works really good for me. I have the 35W 5000 in both beams. Riding at night is extra risky but when you must you must. |

I simply must. Some parts of the year it's dark for both legs of my commute. I need to ensure that I have more light than speed, and some light on the sides of the road. I have a feeling I should also run a wee camera on the bike to record close calls and wildlife encounters. Honestly at night I feel like Omega man or something, because I'm the only thing moving on the roads. Then when I go home in the morning, there's a lot of traffic in both directions which brings my alert status waaay up. I've never had a raccoon or skunk change lanes into me with a 5500lb SUV. The STT isn't afraid to use the sidewalk if I have to, on account of the suspension travel being so long. Hold Fast! |

Back to the 08/09/10 factory headlights being better than the 06/07, who bought the damaged 09 headlight assembly on ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=220680426214&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME %3AB%3AWNA%3AUS%3A1123 Anyone ever come up with a price for a new one? |

Looks like there is some bulbs in it. Like someone on here said before the stock bulbs just seam weak on the 06 and 07. I put a Silverstar in my low beam before the HID's and that was a big improvement. |

American Sportbike has them for $116. Al also has a great deal on an HID conversion that appears to of high quality. Always a pleasure to deal with people of his expertise and commitment. (Message edited by panhead_dan on October 16, 2010) |

American Sportbike has a Headlight assembly for the Uly for sale? $116? Could not find it on their site. Could you please post a link, Panhead_dan? I think an upgrade to the 09 headlights + HID's + the mod for both lights on at high beam would be the ticket for me for night time driving. |
