I tried finding sizes, and it's already been confirmed that I'm a moron. Can someone help me out?
I vaguely remember the size you guys are using being slightly different than standard Uly tires? Maybe, not? (I can be a little thick)

Thanks

Is the Scorpion Trail not available in the standard 180/55/17?

Or is the tire different enough that we should be using a 190?

People have asked over the years of the XB bikes could take a 190 rear and most confirmed it could be done, but not recommended. What has changed?

Thanks in advance.

It currently is only available in 190. It will affect the overall handling and turn in, but most Uly riders are too fat and slow to notice a difference. : )

I am not fat nor slow (well it's all relative), but the difference from the stock 180 to the Trail 190 was not noticeable.

How does the size change affect the speedometer?

May actually increase error. With a 180 my Ulys under by 3 @ 60mph. Zumo validated.

My GPS is within a few miles an hour of my speedo at 60 with Trails. So it's within reason.

Is it just the trail that we can run in a 190, or would I be able to install most 190 tires?

This seems like news to me, but I had never shopped a tire other than 180/55zr17 on both my XB's.

If I wanted to stick with Diablo Stradas and had a source for 190/55/zr17's could I use those? Stradas are pretty well gone from most places. But there are a few lurking out there and I have had good luck with the first two. (both plugged HA!)

Froggy, how many bikes have you wrecked to date...8, 10?

Depends on the XB. The older and shorter models could not easily take 190's. Longer swingarm models can take it no problem.

Ok, so that is why it was such an issue when I owned an XB12s and hung out on the XB board. Now with the XT, I should not have that same issue.

Cool. I guess I have more tire options than I thought. I can now expand my search from 180 Stradas!
