Hey folks, This weekend, a buddy and I have decided to take our Ulys the "longway" up Palomar Mountain (Northeast of San Diego) via Nate Harrison Grade! Check out the attached article from Riders Review magazine. If this guy can do it on a HD Softail, I know we can do! More stuff about Nate Harrison Grade... http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/viewarea.php?t=853028 http://www.valleycenter.com/series/grade1.htm Should be a good time. We'll be sure to take pictures to share.

Have fun, I'm headed off in the dirt myself for a couple of days. |

without rocks, gullies, ruts, creeks, mud... it might as well be tarmac

No problem...the Ulys could have handled much worse! The unobstructed views on the ride up the mtn were "goregeous...goregeous'! Notice there were not guard rails!
Breakfast before our trip!
No more pavement!
View of our progress up the Mtn.
On a clear day, you can see the ocean & Mexico! |

The ride was a blast...I was on the other Uly. Best part of the ride and the bike....attacking the twisties back down and around San Diego. |

DANG I miss So Cal!!! Some of the best riding in the US!!! Only place I know where you can start a ride below sea-level and be at 8,000+ feet in 40 minutes. Great twisties on the blacktop and freakin awesome trails everywhere. Check out the Santa Rosa mountain trail off Hwy 74 some time. You can see the high desert on one side of the peak and the Pacific on the other. FYI though, you'll need to get a 'permit' from the fire station down the road because it's in communist occupied Riverside County where off-roading has vertually been outlawed, except on established trails (first time I ever cheered something BLM has done when they told Riverside Co they can't close established trails). |
