I'll start by saying thanks to the many who continue to imbibe this forum with their stories, lessons, tips, pictures, and help. With this info at the start of the week I proceeded to do a TPS/AFV reset on my '06 Uly with ECMSpy, my first time at playing with something that's not a carb. Now, I generally consider myself mechanically inclined and game for just about anything, but by golly I had a hard time as I didn't realize ECMSpy screen didn't reflect changes as they were happening. Toggling between Trouble codes/Read and Overview solved that. After, of course, I had backed the Idle screw out. And by out, I mean all. the. way. out. Off came airbox, filter, etc. And I've never been so frustrated trying to get a threaded rod (the idle cable) into a threaded hole (throttle body)! I can see it! I can feel it! I just can't get it started! So after much time, assistance from my students (I'm a university theatre technician), and a little assistance cleaning the threads with a die set, it finally went back in. Of course seeing others had done this (in the archives buried deep... names won't be mentioned was of some assistance. But still sleep was lost. After a successful TPS reset (really did only take 5 minutes once I got on the right track), I reset the AFV. I tried the 'ride for 5 miles at 65mph in 5th gear' but there was no change in the AFV after that-it remained at 109-so I reset it with ECMSpy. I do wonder though if I should have done that first? As resetting the AFV of course took the TPS value down from 5.1% to 4.5% thanks again Hop Along who, despite the frustration, really enjoyed the end result! |
