Tomorrow I'm going on my last ride with my unit in the Army. We do one safety ride in the spring and one in the fall. This will be my last ride for this year and for the next whole year. I'm deploying to Iraq next week. I need to ready my bike for the deployment. I'm planning on changing the oil, removing the battery, putting something under the tires and tarping it up. Any other suggestions?

Eric,
Enjoy your last ride, and be safe.

Remove the battery, fill up the tank and add fuel stabilizer, pull the plugs and put a few squirts of oil in the cylinders and turn it over a few times to coat well. If you can, get it off the tires if case they do lose air and you get a flat spot.

Most importantly- be safe over there. When you get in-country, be sure to get one of us your mailing address so we can keep you supplied with treats and letters from home.

Thank you for your service!
Alex

Thanks to everyone. I'm sad that I have to up the cover on my ULY for a year. You can call it silly or what ever you want to call it but I love the looks I get when riding. I did a PGR ride a couple of weeks ago and there were over 350 bike. Yes 95% Harleys. I got so many compliments about my ULY. Everyone telling me to never get rid of it because it is now a collectors piece. So I guess when I get back from Iraq it will be even more of a novelty item. But don't think I'm not going to put the miles on it just because it may be a collectors piece. I love flying down the dirt roads and screaming down the pavement in my ULY. When I get to Iraq I will drop another note and let everyone know where I'm at. And again thanks to everyone for be a stand up American and supporting the Troops.

Watch out for throttle body failure....that is what happened to my Uly on my last ride prior to heading for Iraq!

If you make it to Al Kut....look me up at the Medevac compound. Be safe!

Prior,
So you are saying to pull the spark plugs and put a couple drops of oil in the cylinders, turn over the engine and then replace the spark plugs for storage? Got it too easy.

Eric.
