So Im in line to buy some Formula+ at the local Hardley dealer and i over hear the Parts guy telling a customer:
"You don't need no torque wrench for anything that aint in side the engine like a crank and stuff like that. I don't know why Harley gives out all that torque crap anyway... just keep tighting until it feels tight and let it be."

Yet another reason why Hardley dealers are not ever going to touch my bike again.

Well, if you use half the torque specs in the book, you'll be heli-coiling a lot of stuff on your bike.

I had my belt riding off the rear pulley 1/8" and a "mechanic" at a dealer told me, "Aw, those things are really strong, just ride it". Another dealer told me to bring it in, and they put a new belt on under warranty, as the old one was shot.
Thanks Liberty HD/Buell.
Quite a difference, eh?

There are four businesses inside of any dealership: Sales, Service, Parts and T-Shirts (clothing). Make sure that you are talking to the correct business when you ask a question.

There are good and bad dealers, just like everything else. Plus there are good folks at bad dealers and bad folks at good dealers. That is not limited to Harley dealers either.

There are actually five:

Sales
Service
Parts
Merchandise
Finance

And at Harley dealers you can add another: Chrome.

And finance is #1, Selling that extended warranty is #2.
