Come on fella's, throwing a big Geezer Glide into a corner and throwing sparks at the guy behind you is a blast!! Grinding that nasty chrome off the foot boards is FUN!! |

Wife and I just rented a '10 Road King a few weeks ago. 1200 miles in four days; Albuquerque to Monument Valley and back - almost all two lane back-roads. Absolutely fantastic! Smooth and stable ride even in high winds, big rain, etc. My wife and I were both thrilled. Great country, great ride, great bike. I would definitely do another big HD rental for two-up cruising. Plenty of cargo room for normal gear in the saddlebags. We mounted a large luggage bag (T-bag) to the rear luggage rack for our sleeping bags and slung our tent underneath the rack. I hope you have as much fun on your adventure! |

Harley has been slowly improving it's rubber mounted frames. They didn't want to fix it all at once or people would be lining up at the lawyer's office. Take a look at a new Harley's engine mounting system. Look familiar?? Gee, thanks for sharing Erik, now hit the road!! |

I've changed my mind about Harley's - the Road King I rode recently was really nice. But they're simply not the right tool for the twisties. . |

Yeah, the big cruisers have much stiffer frames now. My Dyna, with it's front wheel a bit further out there, really flexes, which doesn't feel good when you're hauling a$$ through a tight curve and hit some bumps. |

Ok, it has the sportster front end on it and that's a little spinely. I can see how that could make your keester pucker a little! As much improvement as they have made on the handling, the suspension on the glides is still pretty lame. Victory's new "glides" or "cross" bikes have a huge advantage in suspension over Harley. When I'm tired of my 02 Road Glide I'll jump on a Victory. |

Yeah, I can feel the fork flexing away from the chassis in fast, bumpy curves. But I have to say - and this will probably get lots of weird looks - but I feel more comfortable leaning the Harley aggressively over in fast curves than I do my Uly. The seating arrangement - all low, legs out, sitting back - gives me more confidence. Believe me, I can make it happen on the Uly, but for some reason it feels a bit...scarier? That's not the right word. "Not as easy." I know the Uly can way out-corner most bikes, but it does seem to take a bit more physical "commitment". I plan to take a performance rider course next year. "The seating arrangement - all low, legs out, sitting back - gives me more confidence." Really? That's the one thing I hated about my last bike which was a cruiser. I never felt that I could throw it around very well if there were a need for an evasive maneuver. My XT on the other hand is very confidence inspiring! To each his own I guess. Thanks. |

Hmmm - I fancy something a bit different. Fat Boy or Dyna Low Rider. Which would you choose and why? |

Well, aside from the flex in the fork because of its stretch, I think I still like the Dynas, looks-wise. Fat Boys still kinda look like Road Kings or Heritage Softails without the luggage and different wheels. I think someone on this or another thread made a disparaging (shocking!)comment about the types of guys who ride Fat Boys.
