First was the grease, dirt, and crud. Look at how much crud there is around my rear cylinder breather hose.

Are your Uly's this cruddy here as well? should I be worried?









I also found that this bolt was loose. So I tightened it down. Any idea what this is?





I also found that the breather hose is rubbing on a metal pipe coming out from where the throttle cable attaches to.

Any idea what this pipe is? Should I tape this to try to prevent more damage?











Incidently I found that the tail piece was really usefull as a little table when flipped down to hold my tools as I worked.

You should look into the breather mod. The hose looks to me like the 90 degree bend in the throttle cable housing.

That loose bolt holds the cable and is the main ground between the engine and the frame.That's a very important ground point.

It's also one of your engine mounts. That's an isolator and keeps your engine in alignment without transferring vibration. Indeed an important bolt!

Both the front and rear breather hoses on my bike had wear marks. The front hose was paper thin in one spot. A wire bundle caused that wear.

Your rear hose may have a spot worn thru or the connection fitting to the engine is not plugged in all the way.

Another one to check is the Transmission case breather, that comes out between the rear cylinder and the starter on the right side. Mine has been touching the rear exhaust header and is melted all the way through.
