Ok so I have been suffering from my engine missing lately. Took it to the dealer... that was useless, then told me some crap about my tires and that I needed a new belt and installed new plugs (my previous plugs were also installed by the dealer). At home I noticed that the bill had the wrong plugs, so I checked the plugs and guess what I found... the dealer had installed 10R12A plugs in my 2008 Uly. They are supposed to be 10R12X. So I changed them. Here are the 10R12A installed by the dealer after 40km 10 of which where the bike was acting up missing and running on 1 cylinder and shaking like mad.     While I was in there I also notice that the inside of my rear spark plug wire had rust in it. I cleaned it out using cloth and the buell tool kit screwdriver without a hex head on it. I put a little dielectric grease on my new plugs and installed them in. I also noticed that there was oil and crud on top of my air box.  oil on my finger from wiping the airbox.  Removed the actuator, more grease, oil, crud.   Took off the airbox, and the filter look clean as does the box, a little dusty but no oil.   The underside of the box has grease and crud on it though.  So I clean it off with some electrical contact cleaner.  I also cleaned the grease and crud off the other side and cleaned off all the dust.  Then, while I had this stuff opened, I decided to try to move my ECM down lower so it doesn't touch the seat. I did so my removing the battery and bending the metal pan so as to lower the ECM. So far I have 20km done and no Skip Spark symptoms. I bought some new Spark plug wires Y0204.02A8CDHDC for 12$ each (cheap!) and I will try to install them tonight seeing as I am not comfortable with the rust in my rear cylinder spark plug wire. I will post back here if any of this has fixed my skip spark issues. | ||

I'm not trying to hi-jack this thread but I just noticed your exhaust actuator looks totally different than mine. Our bikes are both 08 models and your actuator does not look at all like the original one I replaced at 3,000 miles nor like my new one. I wonder how many different vendors made this part for Buell? On mine, you can actually see the shaft and pulley that pulls on the cable. OK, I'm done. Carry on. Thanks. | ||

I believe you may be missing the cover. The 2 screws on the top side remove the black plastic cover from the actuator as well as unfixing it to the airbox. | ||

Mattmcc00, I think you are correct. Does anyone else have a cover like that on their exhaust actuator? Can someone please look in their parts manual and see if that is supposed to be installed on an 08 XT? Part number also? If so, I will probably order and install it, even if I have to pay for it myself. Thanks. | ||

re. black cover over the exhaust valve actuator... None on my 08XT and none shown in my 08 parts manual either. Husky |
