The ground for the front aux connector is one of the four that connects to the screw at the bottom of the steering head. The first time I had one of these break it was for the horn and drove me mad looking for it. What had happened was the wire had broken internally but the insulation was still intact. Just give each of the wires a gentle tug half an inch or so away from the lugs and a broken one will stretch the insulation. Not that you need to fix it now......... BTW - thanks very much for taking the time for the photos of the stator replacement. My dear old '06 has made 60K miles without fizzing one but I'm sure the day will come. |

I have a question or a fyi or what ever.... The stator has 3 wires. I marked them so I would get them back in the same holes on the connector. Was that necessary? 2nd Putting the wires into the plug was the biggest pain of he whole project... just say'n |

>>>The stator has 3 wires. HINT: Try taking the letters "A, B and C" and arranging them so they are out of order. |

The order of the wires on a three phase alternator feeding a rectifier is not important. A rectifier doesn't "care" about phase rotation. |

I will say... I like being able to fix these problems on my own. Buying the service manual and 25 + years of collecting tools has paid off. Plus all the help on Badweb makes it easy |

well the fuell light comes on around the 150 to 160 mark... (5 or 6 tanks fulls so far) and it didn't take long for me to start riding 80 miles an hour on the freeway again. I thought the added vibe might slow me down some... not so much... 2nd gear wheelie is GREAT!! |
