I took out the rear wheel to replace the tire (Scorpion Trail). After the wheel is reinstalled, I noticed that when I turned the wheel (by hand), the belt made eeky noise at the front pulley on a couple spots. If I pressed down on the top of the belt at the spot just before it squeeked, the noise was gone! The two spots are far apart (I did not check if they were half the belt length apart). I followed the install procedure in the SM. The wheel turns freely otherwise. Is it safe to ride? TIA. | ||

Belt squeaking is not unusual. It is likely that it is doing that now due to being moved from it's normal path of travel. If all is lined up and rolling well, ride it. A lot of the belts will squeal while pushing the bike around a garage. When I put my new belt on it squelched every time I took off for about it's first 3000 miles. | ||

Yeah and mine would squeek when backing up sometimes too. I also had my rear brake pads just touching once and they would put out a very light squack too. Keep an ear out for clicking when backing up as that's what my bearings did when they crapped out. |
