Charge cell phone and portable air compressor is what I've used mine for. I blew the fuse one time with the air compressor. | ||

I installed a trouble light from a chevy truck under my seat and plug it in there. I also charge camera batteries with it. I usually use the other one for the compressor. | ||

I carried a leather man type tool, a bunch of torx bits, a pen, a set of SAE Allen wrenches, some zip ties, a role of tape, air pressure gauge and the clear plastic is a good place to keep your insurance and registration cards. And then I carried the complete buell tool kit in the side case. Edit: Wow, I do need new glasses  . I think the intention was for heated gear. But I use mine for charging stuff like others have mentioned. I have no need for heated stuff in my region.  | ||

Yeah, I figured maybe heated gear, though I thought most people run a connection directly to the battery. I have two things that use that kind of plug to power them, my phone charger and my air compressor. I just thought that I would not likely be using them both at the same time and I would probably use the socket on the dash if I needed to use either one. I just thought maybe I was missing some great use. Maybe I could charge my phone on it while I am riding down the road, but I'd be afraid I'd fry the phone under there. | ||

Not even close, the 10 amp fuse won't run much. I use mine to power an electric cooler, while the dash one powers my gps, phone, xm radio, race computer, heated grips, and whatever else I can find. | ||

The coffee maker doesn't work good, haven't gotten around to trying the pizza oven. You still will want your heated suit on its own line, as it is about 13 amps total. Even if you are just running a jacket, that leaves very little headroom for anything else. Your 08 has heated grips stock, those will consume 3 amps on high, bringing you to 9.7 amps. If you did the wire swap to run your low beam all the time, that puts it on the same accessory line and consumes about 4.5 amps alone. | ||

Your new explanation hardly qualifies your previous statement as "not even close" It would serve you well in the future to use more diplomacy when choosing your words. Condescending or derogatory phrases that you often use will not elevate your status among a group who's average age is almost twice yours. Instead it only shows a lack of experience. I don't have any heated gear. But if I did, I would run a new fused line directly from the battery much safer that way. | ||

I run my heated gear direct to the battery as well. Froggy rarely "pokes the bear with a stick", so to speak, and I bet his "not even close" comment was more electrically-based. There's no gray area in amperage - if you're over, you pop a fuse. Period. And my system voltmeter tells me that I use LESS voltage if the gear is on HIGH versus having it on a medium setting (switching on and off). The switching effect uses MORE voltage, and I bet that's from startup-surge. And yes, I am aware of the difference between V and A...but if you get a V surge, you damn sure have an A surge to go with it. And to keep on topic - I just used my rear port this weekend for WVBR. Forecast called for rain - and BOY did it rain! - so I plugged my USB charger in under the seat and ran it forward to the tank bag so I could charge my Blackberry while I was listening to the 8GB of music I store on it going down the road. I normally use the dash plug, but didn't really want to have it in use if it was going to pour rain. And for what its worth - a Scala G4 will go all weekend without a recharge, playing music and the annoying little chick inside the GPS. Had a charger line for that as well, but never used it. According to the GPS, 12.5 hours of runtime and counting on this charge More and more I'm liking that little box... | ||

Hello I run my heated vest it either draws only 2.8 or 4.1 amps max (not sure because of running change in design) It is an EXO!(The heat inside) Space age design keeps me warm and I don't have to regulate the temp! They do make a jacket also! | ||

Hello I use the EXO OPTIONAL FUSED(FUSABLE LINK) WIRING HARNESS.No need to connect to battery! It plugs in to rear outlet and has a small quick disconnect jack that I usually unplug when I dismount! | ||

I usually use mine to charge other peoples phones... I put two constant power outlets (on a 15 amp fuse) in the top case for my own goodies (phone, i-pod, air compressor, net book, xbi comm setup). The trailer plug connecting it to the bike doubles as my trickle charge connector. I like that the underseat outlet powers down when shut off, occasionally forget something is charging under there. | ||

Use it for my wife's electric jacket liner... Seems to work well. | ||

I use mine to power my Zumo. I wired a accessory plug to my Zumo wiring harness and plugged it in back there. Never had an issue. |
