Sunday going down a secondary road with three of my fellow riders I was hit by the canine version of a roadside bomb. Several (the people following me said 7) were hiding in the deep grass in the ditch out of sight - when I got to them they came out like a flock of quail. I was running at 60 mph, all of a sudden the road was full of dogs - no time to react, I center punched one probably 60+ lbs. - big enough that it punted him off the road and I did not run over him. Luckily I only hit one. The uly gave 3 or 4 big wobbles and then straightened up - no damage to the bike or me - dog had a bad day. I know if I had been on one of my prior bikes I would have gone down - the uly has wonderful stability. Thank you Erik |

I always get on the gas for dogs. Best chance for survival. Lighten up that front end. |

I "center punched" a deer on my Uly a couple years ago in a situation that sounds eerily similar. The buck really stopped with me that cold day. Don't feel like making five or six points about the experience, but I came off okay, thanks to my armored Venison leathers. Once I peeled myself off the road and found that the bike would still start, I fawned all over that poor bike! It wouldn't let me down! It wasn't going to make me hoof it back home! The Uly is so near and dear to my heart that I knew I had to get it fixed up. Luckily, the insurance company coughed up the dough. Believe me, it can rack up. By the way, has anyone ever ridden out in WV, near Whitetail?

Killed an 8 point with my Uly last November. Didn't go down, but she came off the back as the deer went down the right side of the bike. $300 bucks in parts is all I needed for the bike. Close to $3000 for her... |

Surprisingly, in my accident, I had no deer in the headlights. Both bulbs and the assembly were intact. Somebody stop me! In all seriousness, the deer had slipped on the pavement as it ran in front of me, so the bike "tripped" over it, dead center, like when you stick your leg out in front of someone walking. I went flying! |
