Just did the 15k on the Uly today. One thing that I don't remember seeing in the book, but my brain says "it's a cable, lube it" - the exhaust valve actuator.

OK, so the book says "check operation". Close, but...

I did a TPS reset and throttle/idle cable lube recently so I did NOT do it as part of the service today...so those were unchanged during today's activities.

While I had the outer airbox off, I did the actuator test (mine's an '06, with Erik Buell Racing ECM with muffler control) - throttle to WOT, turn key on, exhaust motor will cycle. Noticed it was notchy, figured hey...that may have something to do with the flat spot I have from 4200-4500rpm. Pulled the cable off, grabbed the dri-slide, and pumped a TON into the actuator cable housing. Worked it by hand before hooking it up to the actuator and readjusting. Took it on a shakedown run (had to bed in the new brake pads)....and hey, no more flat spot.

Seems the valve opening stutter was contributing to the flatspot. Maybe not *causing*...but *contributing*.

Add lubing that cable to the list of stuff to do at service time. It's cheap and easy (all you need is a 10mm wrench and some cable lube), and it really does make a difference. Next, I'll spray the valve pivot itself with some B-G InForce lube, and see how long that lasts...it was squeaking a little bit, might be some bind at the muffler itself.

Look in the manual again. At every service it says to lube "all" cables.
