OK, I've read tons of HID threads, so theoretically I should know everything there is to know about HIDs, but I still have a couple of questions that I could use some advice on. Unless I hear a good reason not to, I believe I will be ordering a one or two HID light kit from DDM in the next day or so. In the past I had heard you should only put an HID in the low beam. I have read on here that some have put a HID on the high beam as well. I was thinking I would just go with the low beam, but do you guys thing I should do both or the high beam instead? Also, I am not sure if I should go 35W or 55W. I don't want to blind oncoming cars, especially if the HID is on the low beam. Will the 55 be more likely to do that or will it not matter because they are both so bright and the reflector and aiming are the keys to blinding others? Finally, I was thinking I would order in the 4300-5000k range. Is that what is recommended? Thanks guys. Dan |

My opinion: get the 35w dual kit. I have the 55w and feel they are too bright. If you want to be able to "flash" your highs, then just get 1- they take a few seconds to warm up. Either way, be sure to wire the low beam to be always on, in order to avoid a moment of no light when switching! The DDM kits are great, and easy to install. I have the 55w 8000k, which they say is similar to the 35w 6000k in color. It is slightly blue, I would go 35w 5000k next time I do an install. So....my advice is to get the 35w 5000k dual kit and enjoy the bright light! Best $40 you'll ever spend on your Uly. |

I went through the same thing a while back. I had good luck with the DDM 35 and I use it on low beam only. I have my lights wired together so my low doesnt shut off when I switch to high. I still have the second complete bulb and ballast as a spare. the lights take too long to "heat" up so flashing the high doesnt really work. I went with 4300 and I am very happy with the amount of light. |

I used the VVME.com 35w slim in both beams. Because of the time it takes HID's to start, I had to wire the bike so the low beam always stayed on, If you don't you will have very little light on the transition between low and high. On the work bench with a multi meter that has memory I saw a spike of around 5a to start the bulb. I did not use relays. I did not have problems with melted connectors but I only had them in for 4000 miles. I also went with the 4300K. HID bulbs installed in halogen housings are not legal to use on the road (in my state), so why draw attention to yourself by running blue lights. The 4300K is very pure white. I never got pulled over, and never had cars flash at me. |

I run both on my XB, low on my CR only because of a fitment issue on the high. I prefer both, but the high beam really isn't necessary most of the time.

Aimed correctly, you will not blind oncoming cars. Cars in front of you will vary, given the tall nature of the Uly. 55w still isn't bright enough in my opinion, due to the reflectors in the headlamp assembly. Same 55w kit in a car works much better given the larger lens.

There won't be a huge difference in color between the two, go with whichever floats your boat. |

I have the DDM 35W 4500 in both lights and the low wired on at all times. The lights are GREAT and my buddies say they look really cool too with just a little blue tint. |
