I am interested in the fan shroud. In researching other threads I noticed that the shroud instructions say to "trim the transmission vent hose> Is this necessary? Also, for those of you who did the stuffing method, did you still have to remove the one ecm bolt and swivel said ECM? And last but not least the instructions listed by Court say to install the foam strips, again necessary? When stuffing it, would they peel off? tanks for your time.

Tankhead

Mine came with the foam already stuck to the shroud. So don't know about the re foam part. I have the Special Ops heat barrier blanket and have not installed the shroud yet, YET! HAhahaaaaa. The bike seems real ridable now.

I stuffed mine and only removed / moved what was necessary. It was tight. Get the shroud good and warm.

The foam strips were on mine in the box, they stayed on during the fittment.

I used a small ratchet strap from the front of the pan where it is rounded for the shock, hooked back to the seat latch. It was a hot day in the sunlight where it would soften up for maximum flex. I just pulled it back with the strap as far as I could pull it with my hand, using the strap to hold in place while I pushed the shroud into place.

I didn't cut mine. Just pulled it out of the way, and shoved it back in the hole when the thing was in.

Trimming the vent hose is a necessary step, don't skip that one. Otherwise it will get in the way.

I thought it only went about an inch into the hole anyway. How/where is it supposed to be cut?

You just trim some off of the end of the hose that goes into the hole in the fan shroud. Otherwise, the hose "humps up" too much where it comes out of the fan shroud and interferes with the tang on the front of the seat when you remove the seat and try to reinstall it.

Huh. I have an Alaska Leather sheepskin butt-pad on my seat, so I have to press it on already. Maybe that's why I've never noticed the hose being in the way?!
