I got 4 years out of my last sealed Interstate Battery on my KLR650. I was wondering how long the Buell Battery will last on my 2010 XT |

The stock battery can last between 1 month and 8 years. |

My 03, 06, 08 and 09 are all running the original battery. Ok I lied, my 06 is running a Speedcell Lithium battery, but it wasn't swapped due to the original being dead, that one is sitting in my garage as a spare. |

My original '08 battery made it to 22 months. I was nursing it along the last month though. |

My 07 battery was dated 5/06. I replaced it because it would Crank slow at times when turning the first part of a revolution of the engine. The new battery (Penn) does the same thing. It's not the grounds. I keep The original battery around (on a trickle charger) as a spare because it also might fit my Polaris. But in my Truck, cars or camper I replace them every 5 years. It's cheaper then having to come get my wife or daughter if they have battery problems. |

The dealership just replaced my OEM HD battery in my '07 Uly. Actually, I wanted them to, it was starting to have a hard time cranking, but ultimately with a charger on it a few times a year, it was pretty well in order according to the Buell specs. But, this was one of my last pre-paid check-ups at HD with 20,000 miles on it. One of the benefits of the pre-paid services is up to two additional batteries if needed during this time. So, on my last service, my battery needs replacing. Go figure. |

Bought my Firebolt in July of 2003, still running the same battery after 25,000 miles. I leave it on the trickle charger in the winter time the last year or so. |

My 08 1125R is on its original battery. Delivered mid-December 2007, built early Nov. 25k miles with a Tender Jr. and still starts easy every time. I've sold a lot of batteries this season. Baggers are getting 7-10 years out of a battery and these aren't garage queens. Most do 30-60k a year. Softails and Dynas are getting 4-6 years average. Sportster/Buell/VRSC are getting 2-4 years. Size DOES matter Zack |

OEM battery lasted about 9 months. The bike sat for 6 or 7 months of that time un-tended. The replacement installed in June'06 is still working fine... touch wood. Yuasa replacement (YTX14-BS) (Message edited by TEEPS on July 29, 2010) |

My 06 was a 2 year left over when I bought it new so the batt. was 4 years old. I installed a new one this summer and it cranks much faster. |

Mine was still working after 4 years and 35.000 kms, but terminals were bad and with the new OEM the Uly starts without pulling the throttle. |

I just replaced the X1's battery 7 years. I always put it on a trickle charger when not riding it. On my 2007 Uly I still have the one that came with the bike Feb 2008 Trickle chargers really expand the life. Both batteries are gel from HD. |

Mine made two years.....just barely. From new it was never at or above 12.6 V, the minimum required by the book before testing the electrical stuff on the bike. I replaced it with one of those AGM batteries from O'reilly's. It has never been below the 12.6. It has been going a couple of years now. On the other hand, my wife's Blast has it's original HD battery from 2001. It is also below the 12.6V, but the Blast doesn't have the same needs as the Uly. |

I have a 2001 Blast running the original battery. Uses the same battery as the Uly, well atleast it looks the same. (Message edited by swampy on July 29, 2010) |

for my '08 Uly, battery #1 lasted 21 months and 24,277 miles. OC voltage tested fine (used tender regularly) but voltage drop during start mode (my load test) caused display to blank out and trip odometer to reset In my previous street bikes (HD FXRS, BMW R100) OEM batteries would last around 4 years. I think the Buell battery was deliberately spec'd smaller to save weight. I think a higher CCA rated battery would last longer. Just my $0.02 |

I always replace my batteries (bikes, cars, toys) after 3 years. Date them when you put it in, and just change 'em. Had a few 'good' batteries fail far from civilization after riding them all day without problems. I believe the plates break and short out internally, never showing a CEL or Batt light because it's running fine off the alternator but won't be able to restart the engine. For me it's scheduled maintenance, like oil changes. |

I got 18 months from my original battery it never cranked so fast from the start. Not sure that has any thing to do with it or not. It was never on a tender but it was/is ridden daily. [08 xb12x] |

An update: Battery #1 lasted 22 months. There was plenty of warning as it went bad and I nursed it along for a month or so. That was the shortest lived motorcycle battery I'd ever had. Until today. Battery #2 lasted 9 months. No warning of failure. That'll be my last HD battery. Mark SE AZ |

My 07 with 28K still has the original battery. It's about the only electrical part that hasn't yet crapped out. (Message edited by skifastbadly on August 02, 2010) |
