As it turns out I really have no headlights. I've checked the fuses which seem fine. I checked for voltage at the connector to the bulb(11.75). I've tried a couple different bulbs that were tested from a different power source so I know it's not the bulb. All the other lights work fine turn, tail instrument, brake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA | ||

When you checked for power at the socket, where did you grab ground? At the socket too, or elsewhere? Could be a bad ground to the socket. Or dirty/corroded connectors- run a piece of sandpaper in and out of the connectors, and slather with dielectric grease. | ||

I know it'll sound remedial, but when you checked the voltage at the connector, did you use the Ground of the connector, or some other known Ground? If the latter, be sure to test just the connections the bulb will have. You also might be well served by working some dielectric grease into the socket and applying a bit to the contacts on the bulb--this should help to eliminate any binding of the spring-loaded contacts and guarantee good electrical contact. | ||

I checked for power across the connector. Seemed good(11.75V) I checked to the factory ground same result. My high beam doesn't work either so I checked for voltage across the connector and nothing(toggling the switch so the high beam light on the dash is on), then checked to the factory ground and got voltage. So I am assuming a bad ground is causing both lights to go out. I checked for continuity between lamp connector and past the harness connector and that seems good. Now I need to trace back from there. Thanks guys for the help so far. | ||

Guaranteed it is the ground wire that runs from the headlight connector down to the front of the frame (at least that is what my problem was). Instead of tearing the harness apart, just run a new (additional) ground wire from the headlight connector to the frame ground. | ||

Did you do the "two lights on at the same time" mod? I did and found that in doing so, I had bent the connector a little bit and it caused it to only work intermittently. I redid it and fixed the connector and everything worked fine. That doesn't explain both lights being out, but maybe you burned out one bulb, too. | ||

Is you high beam indicator light on the dash stuck on? | ||

I've had the two headlight mod done since 06. 40,000 trouble free miles. The high beam indicator works as it should. I will route a new ground and hopefully that resolves this issue. | ||

Had an intermittent headlight problem. - Problem was in the connector behind the flyscreen (found this after taking EVERYTHING apart & soldering ALL the connections, to no avail). Taped the connector together & no problems since. | ||

Well, Towpro's guarantee held up! I ran a new ground and I'm back in business. I also checked for continuity between the connector and the frame ground to verify the broken wire somewhere. This is from my 1300 mile Grand Tour weekend.  | ||

I've had the same thing happen to me twice already, once while I was riding at night. The second time was during the day, but not two minutes after I realized my lights were out, (I didn't notice the reflection in the back of a black SUV in front of me) a car pulled out in front of me. | ||
