I reported recently that I did and love the XB9 primary mod on my 08 Uly. In following the Forum I have read that the next popular mod is probably the airbox/ breather tube mod. Is it still desirable or necessary on 08+ Ulys? I cannot find a thread specific to the 08+. I would prefer not to do the ECMSpy. Is there another step by step thread out there? If my question sounds a bit ignorant, its because I am, about this. I will appreciate any help and direction you can provide.

I did the breather reroute on my 08 XT. It is otherwise stock. I cannot tell you how much it smoothed out the off idle bog/stumble/cough that it used to have. YMMV, but I am glad I did it. Not hard to do. I just read all of the relevant threads then went my own way using what I wanted of others' threads.

There's a bunch of archive info on this mod and I think I read each one twice before I ever pulled the trigger on doing it. Once you get the airbox off and start to eyeball the PCV valve setup and hose routing, you'll realize (hopefully) that there's little distinct difference between doing this mod on an '06, '07 or '08. From the pictures I saw of others, they were nearly the same setup.

After doing it, I've lost the stalling, sputtering, nasty looking throttle body, loss of power under acceleration and general mysterious loss of performance that came with shoving wet, oily snot back down the throttle body and into the combustion chamber. I've seen several different ways for how others chose to do it as all are pretty well illustrated in the archives but the one thing remains constant: after seeing what comes out of the tube, I do not want it going back in to the intake system any more.

If you haven't, try using the term "catch can" in your search and include other forums (don't just limit the search to the BBnD Uly forum) for some additional helpful info. This issue/mod isn't limited to the Uly and I got some good suggs from other model forums.

I did that one too. A no brainer really. I can only suggest you use a thin wall hose to run it back. It makes it a lot easier to get it though the tight spots on the way to the rear. I simply ran mine back along side the fuel tank overfill drain line on the left side of the swing arm. I never see any dripping on the floor so why buy a catch can? It's nice having a clean air box too!
