Just wanted to pass on an opinion. I installed a set of Palmer windshield brackets on my XB12XT and they really do the job well. I am 6 feet tall and have gone 70+ mph and feel very little buffeting or fatigue. Judging by the quality and performance, money well spent!

how many of you here think it's important to reinforce behind the painted windscreen before putting the palmer brackets on? I got myself a pair, haven't put them on yet, but was wondering if that's important to do before I install them. I was planning to put a zero gravity wind sheild on. Greg

If I had a larger screen I would get the palmer support brackets.

I run a BIG screen and Palmer with support brackets. Works fine.

ZG + 4 still small enough profile to NOT require support brackets. If you go bigger - maybe a good idea. Be sure to put rubber pads behind screen at top where bolts go thru.

Those of you who have the Palmer or any other, how many use the tall windshield? The Palmer website has a smaller windshield. I like the look of the smaller windshield/screen, but if it doesn't do the job as well...

I'm on the taller side, too, 6'3". I'm Expecting to add one soon, just looking around to see what options seem like they'd work best. Suggestions?

I have the PB and tall shield.

I'm six feet, and could still raise it one notch, but it's perfect where it is.

I also have the support brackets

Definitely get the supports.
I got my Uly without them and the tall w/s shook violently at idle.
I made a pair out of junk laying around my garage, I painted them black after I took the photo,

I think the raised w/s hurts my mpg, but sure make a smoother ride.
I have it all the way up and forward.
It's a mod that will stay.

I have them with the xt tall screen and no support brackets.
No problems.
I keep it all the way up and out.

Is there a U.S. distributor for the Palmer brackets or do you have to order them from Palmer Products in the U.K. directly?

Order direct from Palmer Products. They are great. Shipping was 2 weeks, at a minimal extra cost.

I have the OEM tall shield with the palmer brackets without the extra supports. Set on the middle height setting, I get no vibrations at all.

I just installed the Palmer brackets. Wow what a difference! With the stock XT tall screen set in middle or top position and all the way forward I can now cruise at 70 with my faceshield up and without earplugs, if I choose. The air is dead calm around my helmet. There is still a lot of air movement lower down in the chest and arm area, but that helps keep me cool. Service was excellent and shipping very reasonable from England. Quality materials and hardware too. I got the brace kit but removed it. Not needed for the stock shield, no vibes at idle.
I also installed Precision Engineering one inch bar risers for lower back relief, really helped.

I have had the Palmer brackets installed for a couple of weeks now with the stock XT screen (2010 version) without the supports. I have also tried the stock X screen (without brackets). For me, the Palmer brackets with the XT screen is great. I haven't noticed any need for the supports at this point. I am very happy with my set up now. I wish I had the brackets for my trip to Homecoming.

Oh, I got them black powdercoated and I think they look great as well.
