I installed the right side air scoop and the heat shield on my XT but did not install the piece under the seat due to nice weather an reading about what a PIA it was to put on. After a few days of riding in 90+ degrees, my thoughts were on an install. Can anyone who has that piece installed tell me if there is a significant difference in heat transfer to the bottom of the seat pan? I have the need for opinions thanks |

Yes, significant difference, especially if you also have the Comfort Kit Reflash done. On very hot days the seat will still get quite hot if you ride long enough for it to heat soak. I'd recommend an air pad or sheepskin pad for those longer rides, either that or stand up a lot... |

BTW, you can install that under seat heat shield without removing anything. The plastic it's made of is very flexible especially when hot. I did mine in about 20 minutes the first time and in about 5 when I had to replace the cooling fan. |

Right! like Rwven sez - the trick is to let it bake in hot sun for a bit so it's nice and pliable. Saves a whole bunch of time not removing seat pan. |

I finally received my fan shroud today (like 2 months to get the darned thing...). I did not order the comfort kit, only the 2 halves of the scoop and the fan shroud. Anyone have a copy of the install instruction and/or install pics to share? I searched and found nothing (other than one guy who disassembled the entire rear of his bike to install it!). TIA |

Rwven and Jphish-Removal of nothing other than the seat? I have been following this thread since the comfort kit was first introduced and decided to hold off on the comfort kit due to being sick and tired of working on the Uly. If it is that simple, no shock bolt removal, ecm removal, not disassemblye of the rear end, etc, I think I will purchase the kit. I did read about a fellow that attempted to install without removing stuff and he broke the shroud. |

It's got to be a hot day when you do it, the shroud is plenty flexible on a hot day. By hot I mean 80F+. |

Another vote that the shroud makes a BIG difference. On a 90 deg day, my seat is now cooler than the general exterior surfaces of the bike that bake in the sun. I installed it the hard way, per directions, but the few hours it took me were well worth it in results. No re-flash for me (have an '06). |

Best "cooling" part for my 06 Uly I installed it the hard way, had some other things I needed to get to, but the time was well worth the effort. 90+ is no more a issue on the Uly. I did not get the flash but between the right scoop and the shroud the bike is like a whole new experience. |

Yeah, I noticed that it was cooler after install and reflash. On instructions, you should search badweb. Someone posted them up about six months ago. I wanna say maybe Froggy or Etennuly? |
