I got my 07 used with around 3500 miles on it last September. By October I had ECMspy and checked out the TPS. I think it was 1.7 when throttle was closed so I reset it.

Now 2500 miles later the bike is starting to blubber around 2000-2500 so I hooked up ECM spy. TPS was .7 with throttle closed and AFV was 90.

Do I really need to reset this thing every 2000 miles?

I had to reset the TPS on my 07 several times before it would settle down. I don't know if this is normal or not, but mine needed a tweak or two at first.

Do you do the TPS with the engine cold or after having a ride, because the best way is when the engine is at riding temperature.

I am doing it right (Cold enrichment 100%) which only happens after it warmed up.

And I always check it after reset:
Crank idle adjustment (throttle) closed, gently feel butterfly is closed with throttle. Set it to 0. then open the throttle gently while watching the reading, then allow the throttle to close again and watch for 0.

The problem is not that the reset is not being done right, the problem is it seems that you need to do the reset the TPS and AFV every 2000 miles.
sure it will run "ok" without doing the reset this often, but we all now how well they run after a TPS and AFV reset.

200 miles today in the +90 weather, and it ran better then it has in several months.

Treadmarks had a thread on this and then I added some pictures to show how to set absolute zero. I just searched for it and found out I did it on ADVrider before I came here. Here's a link:

Basically, if your tps sensor is not preloaded it may stop at different locations giving you false readings.
