Noticed a few weeks ago a home-fabbed spark arrestor for the Uly (thanks Itileman), then noticed Mike solicit an ADV rider vendor to see if they made products for aftermarket use for our Ulys.

I've been in contact with the fabricator of this product to inquire if there is an "insert" option, since the other known option requires some fabrication skills (fitting a 2.5" arrestor to a 2" exhaust...).

Here's the link to his product (for KTMs): http://www.cjdesignsllc.com/SparkArrester.html

So here's the deal (so to speak)...

Looking for 20-25 individuals who would be interested in a purchase like this. Although still in the planning stages, the fabricator feels the spark arrestor could be fitted as an "insert", in lieu of a "bolt on", the only modification of our muffler is a small drilled hole to secure the arrestor.

The fabricator lives in the East Troy WI, area, and if one of the interested Uly owners lives in that vicinity, you would receive a "free" arrestor in exchange for allowing your Uly muffler/bike to act as the template.

Price at this time is undetermined, (but assume it will be consistent with his other products) so this e-mail is an effort to gauge interest.

I'm not in this for profit, just looking for support for our off-paved road bikes.

If this post violates the BadWeb rules, I'll apologize in advance, and moderators can lock or delete as appropriate.

So, any interest out there for this?

Paul

it would be nice to have those.... It would get me less cr@p from the green shirt rangers, the brown shirt rangers dont give a flip.

I have the race can, two exhaust ports.
Keep me posted. I spend over half my time off pavement.

I live in Oregon and my Uly has an ORV sticker. I would be interested in one if it would work on my Special O.P.S. muffler. (single outlet, unsure of dia but I could measure it.)I wouldn't have to be an outlaw anymore.

Here's another photo of the product - - as you can imagine, an insert for our mufflers will be shorter in length than the one pictured here...

As for aftermarket mufflers, it would be great if the exhaust outlets were identical in size to the stock mufflers; but further developments for aftermarket mufflers will most likely depend on the interest for the initial group buy for the OEM exhaust...

Count Me in!
Living in Canadian Forest now, first summer on My property We had a Large fire Just down the road, burning up from the Boundary Waters Wilderness. Thought I was back in the SoCal Mtn's, Where I lived for 25 years, and Was Burned out Once, and Close to being burned out Many Times. Finally Left SoCal after the 03 fire, and the Voting Down of a Fire Protection Tax increase, 6 Months after 16 people Killed, and as Many BiLLiON's Lost in Homes! Personal Greed Knows NO Limits!
So Yes, Put Me on the List for one, Main Problem is Various Outlet configuration's, But I do Have my Stock Can, and willing to put it back on for Bush trips.
Was Suprised to See Bikes Being Sold as "Adventure" Bikes NOT having Something so Basic, maybe one of the Aftermarket guys could look into Producing an exhaust with Spark Arrester Built in, as it Should have been in the first place.

I'd been interested in one maybe 2 if it will also fit a Super TT. I don't know if there is any difference in the muffler outlets.

The STT and Uly share the same muffler.
