Hey all,

I got my SPECIAL O.P.S. Maximum Seat Barrier this week. Its a heat barrier made from what looks like aviation grade heat barrier, silver on one side and the woven material on the other with a real nice welt along the edge to keep it all together. Man does Michael make a great product. Well thought out!

http://www.specialops-online.com/11401.html

I got the two piece set. The front half requires the two aft screws in the airbox cover to be removed, slip the barrier under the back edge of the airbox cover and poke the barrier around the frame and put the screws back in. The back half Velcros to the front half and its then poked down along the frame as well. Slapped the seat back on and I had ZERO interferance getting it to lock in place.

I have only ridden 10 miles or so with it installed and can definatly tell the heat is less on my thighs and butt. It was in the upper 90's and I had shorts on for the test ride so I could see if there was any heat blocked. I would say HELL YES it does block some of the engine heat.

The website says to remove the back barrier in cool weather to keep a little heat under the bumm. Great idea for sure.

So for the money, $65, I would say GET IT! Its not much cash but I would say at this point well worth it. Hope to get some seat time on the Uly this next week in Colorado. That is IF I take the trailer and the Strom and Uly or just take the Strom in the bed of the truck. Gas is a big chunk of change for my trip out, I get 5 mpg better in my truck without the trailer behind it. Hummmmmmmmmm? What to do......

Bd, put the Ully in the back of the truck ! I also have the Special Ops 2 piece heat barrier on my '09, as well as one of his mufflers, and I will testify that Odies quality is excellent ! Now I just want to remap my ECM.. LoL..

Steve.

Buell in the truck, well I just don't have the confidence in the Uly yet that I have in the Strom. The Strom has 55,000 HARD MILEs and its as dependible as a rock. It does get a fuel issue now and then and ya have to idle it up to 2000 rpm and after awhile it clears up. A gremlin some place, does it every day sometimes and then goes away for months on end. Doesn't keep you from running the piss out of it just dosen't like to idle and run slow.

I have my new belt in hand for the Uly, Thanks Latus, but have not had a chance to install it. Temps in the upper 90's in the garage have me just in the house sittin and sippin a brew after work. Comfort kit not here yet either so our ride to Grand Junction and Moab and wherever would be real hot on the Uly. The Stroms water cooled system stays one temp and thats it. Hard to beat. I only have 4900 on the Uly and have real tight rear bearings at the last tire change and don't want to be 350 miles from a pickup truck to get it back to base. Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. HAhahaaaaaa.

Bdrag,
Add some grease to those bearings and forget about them. Works for me. Only takes a few hours of garage downtime to do both front and rear bearings. It really does the trick. Other's here agree. Once per season is all it takes.

Bdrag- I also got the little one that fits bhind and around the rea brake fluid reservore. That blocks even more heat coming out. Yup I like the blankets also.

Hey All,

Did my Colorado ride. Wish I had taken the Buell but just loaded the Strom in the bed of the truck and went. It was in the 100's on the way there and the fact that I was not dragging a trailer with bikes on it made for a relaxing drive out and back.
Saw MANY rigs with trailers hauling bikes and 4 wheelers and saw at least a dozen with tire and bearing issues on the side of the road. Damn that made me glad I didn't mess with it.

The Strom did great. Logged about 1500 miles in 4 days of riding. Temps from 42 to 105 degrees. Didn't make Moab this time. Weather was wet the day we were to do that leg so we headed back east to Salida via Blue Mesa. Wet, cold and wonderful ride. Colorado for sceenery and Arkansas for roads.

The Buell gets to do our fall ride and this year it will be in the hill country in October. I hope to have a few thousand more miles on the Uly by then and hope to have had those miles be trouble free. Still love the Buell for its caracter and the Strom for its good and bad. We will see what comes along. Comfort kits in the mail so that goes on this week I hope.....

Got mine in the mail last week and installed it right away. What an improvement! No hot spots. Did some riding this weekend and temps were near 90. Sealed the hot air coming from between the seat and frame. Seat doesn`t get warm either. May have to remove it when the weather gets cooler,I like the heated seat when its cooler.
