Well...Burrito platters weigh much more per volume than cardboard. So <squaring> the 20 pounds of crap multiplied by 2 xtra orders of tortillas with guacamole = X (and Y representing some unquantified quantity of XXX) we can approximate the 'tire torture coefficient'. [WFO(X + Y) + (XXX) - 2800 RPM] Froggy should get around 24,872 mi, or close to circumference of the earth, out of a rear PR2...you and Ft_bstrd about 489. Assuming only 1 platter each, consumed during the ride. This is only approximate, I can refine formula as I get more data.

Oh, I don't do the burrito platter! My mileage is easily triple that of Ft_bstrd's!

You need to factor in the jet propulsion benefits of the burrito platter and recalculate your mileage equation.

On a serious note, I have been working on becoming "smoother" in transitions into and out of corners. I have seen my mileage increase as a result. This means I carry more corner speed into the turn requiring less power to be applied on exit. The wear induced by slowing the inertia on entry and increasing the inertia on exit is thus reduced.

Thanks! I entirely neglected the "jet propulsion" effect. Firing up the Cray for recalc. Froggy claims to only be an innocent bystander in 'burrito contests'...so I'll need to factor that in as well. Seriously too - I was not 'kind' to the PR2s - rode pretty hard on the 13K, 2 month trip. They gotta be the "mileage queens" in whats available for the Uly's. I've slowed down quite a bit from my more youthfull (spirited / stupid) riding days, (impaired reflexes being what they are), so corner acceleration is my remaining joy...and engage in it, whenever conditions permit. 11,500 mi out of a PR2 rear is still pretty stellar - about 2x better than anything else out there. I'll try the D616 - but since i got the 06' Tiger with TKCs, Uly is now my "primarily pavement" machine - & will likely go back to PR2s. Good rain tire too. Important here.

The PR2s are my favorite by far.

I got to borrow a Pilot Power 2CT and did about 2k miles on it, it is a nice tire but I noticed no handling or wear difference vs my Diablo Strada that I was running previously. It did wear nice too.

I currently am running Michilein non-DOT race tire up front, this thing has endless grip and wears good. 4k on it since I bought it (was previously on a track bike), it still looks great.

I was somehow able to skull a Strada in 1800 miles.

Don't know how I did it.

On my longest riding day to date, I decided I had enough of the weave coming from the D616's. At 8800 miles the front tire was still in good shape, though the second rear was nearing its end. It has been a while since then, and I have had several different tires, The Pirelli Stradas and Syncs, Continental Sport Attack, Dunlop D220. For the road the Sport Attacks obviously have the best grip, but worse mileage with the rears gone at 2600 miles and the front gone at 5000 miles. For life, the Stradas were the best with one rear lasting just over 5000 miles and front over 10,000 miles. For rain and grooves the Stradas were the worst, also the only front tire to lock up on me. Water and a little oil or painted line and the Stradas lost grip. After some mileage the front Strada reminded me of the K505 Bias-ply tires I had on my CB750. For rain the best tire hands down I have been on is the D616. Lastly for dirt, gravel roads, the D616's have proven to be best for me as well. So why after 40,000 miles did I want to return to the weave? Well... that's simple, I wanted to do more adventure riding and the Pirellis are weak. To say, they are thin, real thin. I have repaired or replaced almost ever Pirelli rear tire I have had. One Buellotoberfest, we were having a great early morning adventure ride when I hit a rock and shattered the rear tire to the point it would not hold a plug. When changing the tires you can feel the strength of the D616. I had the opportunity to show me the starter fluid trick to seat a stubborn D616 front tire. The Pirellis are so thin you can just about mount by hand.

So now I have D616s back on the bike as it turned 50,000 miles and had the opportunity to ride the bike to, around and back from the mountains. They are not as good on the road. As a matter of fact only the Stradas once worn were worst. You have to get use to them when you throw the bike in a turn. Once you get use to them, you find they can handle just fine. When you turn the bike into a corner, the bike drifts for a second as the large thread blocks reposition once leaned over. After that the tires are fine. On gravel/dirt roads the tires have already proven to be the right choice. Riding with the group, Ulywife and I rode two up up the southern path to Burke's Garden. On one corner the front broke loose and the bike started to tuck in. As it rotated over the tires gripped as they rotated to the next block row. Would not have happened with Syncs or more road specific thread patterns. Also, like I said, almost every Pirelli rear tire I have had on the bike had to be repaired or replaced. After two days of two up adventures on gravel/dirt roads, no flat tire. On the freeway home, the tires weaved but just a little. Overall I got what I remembered and expected, so am happy for now. Next I need to try these PR2's

M2nc - Thanks for the evaluation. @ 50K mi youve had lots of opportunity for comparison & thats what this post was trying to offer...real experience. I just mounted my first D616s yesterday - so will begin 'weave test' today. I agree on Syncs - too thin! - ok on the pavement, but had 2 sets that cut / punctured on well maintained forest roads - they need that Kevlar belt & tougher carcass the 616 has. I think you'll like the PR2 - a tire of substance. I used to use tire change cycle as rough approximation for oil change / service prompt. The PR2s will screw that up.

After a ride in the rain I wash the bike with car wash and wax and one of those sheepskin wash mitts.
It takes all the brake dust stains off.
Looks pretty clean in that photo but really it hasn't been washed in a while.
And yes I did stop to smell the flowers.

I just spent about 2 hours cleaning rear wheel... badly stained! Perhaps because I hadnt done it since 08'. Its now spotless and even has 2 coats of wax on it. Good for 2 more years.

So, did you ride on these things yet? Or still recovering from the detail job? Impressions?

Hey Paul! - Yeah, only about 50 mi & mostly local (obviously). Did one 5 mi stretch of I-5 @ 70-75mph. Did notice a bit of weave, but pavement pretty trashed in that area due to construction. Coming off the 'rock solid' PR2s will "test" any tire comparison though. Leaving Sunday on 4 day trip - should have a better feel after 1500 mi or so. Hell - some folks claim to wear 'em out in about that. Let you know - looking forward to testing them in some dirt. TTFN, j
