I put my first in at 32K, now the second one is getting pretty noisy, and even hic-cuped on me once, 52K on the bike now.

Just wondering how many other fuel pumps, have been replaced.

Also how often, and how far to you run on your low fuel light? I tend to a lot, which I think is a contributing factor.

Thanks, Hootis.

Need more info. I pulled mine and did the simple wire fix to make sure it would not short out. Seems to have been a problem with the 06's.

58K and still have the original pump. I did as Pso.. pulled it and did the wire fix a while back.

As for low fuel light.. 20- 30 miles once it comes on. There are many times (in the summer) I get around 200 miles total before refilling.

Still good at 12k. I hardly ever refuel prior to the light. I usually don't run over 20 miles even though it has more.

Got a pump off my '06. pump works great at 50,000 miles, wires went bad.

For sale: $40 sounds reasonable.

30k on the first pump, then it started doing the stay on when it shouldn't be on thing like the wires were chaffed. I would of pulled it and fixed the wires, but it was under warranty so I let them throw a new pump in. 14k on the replacement pump no issues.

I usually ride about 30-40 miles with the gas light on before stopping.

82000 mi on my 06. Repaired the shorted harness, but pump never has been noisy. I have only rarely run it to the low fuel light. I have observed from experience where I work that frequently running in-tank pumps low or out of fuel does shorten their lives. And our bikes' fuel gets really hot, especially in the summer. Less quantity means higher temps = bad.

'06 at 53,000 miles. Had to fix the wires at about 33,000. It has been working well. Original pump, and due to circumstances.....original filter and screen.

I run it until the light comes on every tank full. I frequently need to put 4+ gallons in to fill it back up.

'09 X at 26500 miles, original pump, no problem to date. When commuting, I ride to around 130 - 150 miles, which is normally before the reserve light pops on. When I'm just out riding on weekends and holidays, I usually fill up well before the reserve light comes on (I'm not a fan of running out of fuel on the road).
