In three weeks I will be taking my Uly out to Colorado in my truck. Anyone know how long it takes for the ECM to learn the new altitude? Should I take ECMSpy and do resets when I get there?

Once warmed up it will constantly adjust while you are cruising. It probably will only take a few miles. My laptop travels with me anywhere regardless : )

30 seconds at 3000 rpm in third gear will get the job done.

The only problem I've ever had with altitude changes was a long downhill run on highway 441 from Tennessee into Cherokee, NC. I was probably off the throttle for 15 or 20 miles straight due to the constant downgrade but engine RPM was fairly high. When I reached level ground in Cherokee, the thing was running like crap and eventually died at one point. I took a break and ate lunch; when I came back it fired right up and I held steady RPM as soon as I could for a short stretch and running went back to normal.

Thanks - I guess it won't take much enrichment to start going through an 8000' change! It would be better if I rode it out there, but 1300 miles of slab in two days with July heat is not fun to me.

I live at 5200' here in Colorado and routinely ride up to 8000 or 9000 ft. on shorter rides. Longer rides, I may be up in the 10000 ft range. I never have any problems with my '06 XB12X.

I trailered my Uly XT from Denver to SE Ohio this winter when we moved. It fired right up once we got here, runs fine. I was surprised how quickly it adapted to the elevation change.

I just got back from Crested Butte, CO (rode out from Birmingham, AL). My '09 XT had no problems adjusting to the elevations. If anything, power was a down a little trying to pull in 5th gear. I haven't figured gas milage, but it seemed fairly normal. We covered almost 4000 miles total with no problems. Was a great trip.
