Not that kind of hammered

Something to keep the cleaning to the absolute minimum...

Its Line-X, kind of gives it the hammered look; and it must also scatter police radar, so far no tickets in 18,000 miles.

It is your bike.......Those little lights may have more to do with the radar not bouncing back.

It is your bike.......Those little lights may have more to do with the radar not bouncing back. Think that's just the reflection of the lights in the garage on the air box, and of course, was just kidding about deflecting the radar (Line-X is not quite Skunk Werks "stealth" technology)...

BadWeb sure garners a unique group of out-of-the-box thinkers! If you only knew how many times I've been told to "Get back in the Box..."

I think it kicks ass! Thanks! It's held up well - - I commute close to 80 miles a day here in the Pacific Northwest, and think at most I hosed if off twice since November.

Is it not going to make the cleaning harder? Must be a nightmare trying to get the splattered bugs off the screen now

Looks cool to me. Never worry about scuffing your painted parts again. Probably will reflect bullets too.
I wonder how that stuff might hold up on the muffler cause it sure would be neat looking there.

Handguards look way cool.

Flyn -

I knew I wouldn't be the first guy that put textured material on the Uly... Well done.

Actually did all the plastics, hand guards, luggage support brackets, rear tire fender, front fender "beak" and TT fork lowers, mirror stems, etc.
Have had great success with this textured product on other "non-standard" applications.

C'mon - -inquiring minds want to know about that seat! Share the with rest of us!

I've got some road rash on my bike from when I dumped it. This approach gives me a great idea of how to deal with it and make it look more unique.

Question... I've never painted plastic before. It seems like it wouldn't "stick". Any tips for preparation?

EG, not sure but don't think it would work on the muffler. Think it would melt right off / burn.

EG - Sorry, missed your earlier question on the muffler; gotta agree with Whisper, I think it would melt right off. Not sure of the heat characteristics of the products (Line-X, Rhino, Herculiner, etc.), but since they were designed for truck beds, I doubt it would be very high. Maybe worth a check to the manufacturers.

Metaldude - If you have a shop do the work, they'll scuff the hell out of all the parts before they coat them. Most of the shops now have a lot of different colors, so black is not the only option... If you do-it-yourself, scuff them up and make sure they're wiped with a product to remove any oils/grease/etc. before applying the coating.
As far as "sticking", the shop I went to fully encased each piece with product, because the edges are where the coating's adhesion typically begins to fail. I debated trying to tape off the Buell logo on the airbox, but opted against when talking with the operator. If you look at the first picture, you can see the raised edges of the original Buell logo, the new decals are glued onto the Line-X with a heavy-duty adhesive.

Doubt either would do well on a muffler Electraglider. I know rhino will bubble like fudge with the application of heat. Had that rubberized cottage cheese on my truck once. Scraped it out and put line-x in.
