Ok boys and girls, I need to know if the internals of an XB12R/S stock muffler are the same as those in a XB12X. I got my dealer to give me a new one for my X as my old one looked like it spent 10 years being used as a salt water anchor. Well my stupid dealer gave me a new XB12R/S muffler instead of the X muffler he was replacing. Then stupid me went and had it ceramic coated (blue) without noticing it wasn't an X muffler. I have to put a spark arrester on for a trip coming up soon and want to know if I should butcher the 12R/S one or try to get an X one before the trip.

Internals are the same, the difference is the tip. The Uly has a different end and tip to clear the kickstand. You are running one of those funny stand things so who knows if it will clear or not.

Yeah I'm a tool. But being as though the internals are the same I will just have to cut up, butcher, and weld a Ulyish outlet on to it so I can mount that spark-arrester. Boy am I a dick !!!

I don't think the mesh thing is really a spark arrestor.

The S/R muffler should fit fine. I wouldn't worry about cutting it up. Bolt it on and go.

I had the race muffler on mine and the only clearance issue was that the side stand touched the tip.

Didn't hurt any thing.

The S/R muffler will fit just fine. The side stand will "clank" against the muffler tip when it's retracted. The big down side is, it will get black from sitting in the exhaust path.

Yes, I know this from first hand experience.

He has one of those Touratec kickstand foot things on his bike, think the clearance may be a bigger issue for him.
