First I checked the owners manual and did not find my answer. I understand my Uly has something called a "Bank Angle Sensor". I assume this shuts off the fuel injection if you drop the bike? So if I do drop the bike, how do I reset the BAS? or does it reset when you pick the bike back up? | ||

Tee BAS should rest it self, it just a simple piece in side, but some of them just die, like mine did and I discovered that the bike would shut down the engine erraticly, cold, hot fast or slow, i'd stop and restart the engine with no problem at all. Hope this helps. | ||

You need to turn the key or kill switch off for the BAS to reset. If you pickup the bike and then try to start it without doing that, it will crank but not fire. | ||

Thanks Froggy, I wanted to know for sure I needed to either cycle the Kill, or Key. Last weekend my buddy dropped his R1200 SX out riding in the dirt with me. It could just as easily been me.  | ||

Is there any way to test the BAS? My 09 XT died suddenly going down the slab, turned the key & run switch off and started it up again. Died again 20 miles later with the same results, then ran 130 miles without incident. Go figure?????? | ||

I dropped mine twice in an hour's span this weekend. I don't think it shut off either time. | ||

The BAS is located by the brake light if you want to remove it and play with it, but if you are interested in testing it, the easiest thing to do is start the bike and gently lay it on its side in the grass. | ||

Funny you mention it but the one time I dropped mine, the thing didn't stop for me either! Of course, the primary case was squishing my foot so perhaps it was being propped up just enough to allow it to stay running? | ||

My BAS was missing a nut and was making the bike quit. You can test it by removing the 2 nuts and tip it with the bike running, with out laying your bike down | ||

I can't name anything that isn't going to lay down after removing two nuts. | ||

Well , take off the BAS and turn it on its side, if the bike kills, then its working. Take a look at it. | ||

I laid mine down once and it did not shut off till it teetered over the side bag. |
