Yesterday was a sad day for me. My 09 Barricade Orange XB12X has left me. A red light runner decided he did not like me or the bike and took us out. I am actually the luckiest rider in the world as the Uly took the full brunt of the side hit and I experienced a hard landing with minor injuries and expecting a full recovery. I actually think the Uly was trying to tell me something earlier in the day as it blew the fuel pump fuse toward the end of a fantastic ride around east San Diego County. With all the reading on this fantastic board I knew what the issue was before the bike came to a stop. 3 minute fix and we were on my way. So I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this board as I have learned a lot and was doing my own services on my bike and my buddies Firebolt. Everyone please be careful out there and if your lucky enough to own a Uly please enjoy it every chance you get. I know I sure did. Sad, it just turned 4k on the ride. |

Sorry to hear it, dude. Really glad to hear that you're ok. So it's totaled? The car missed your leg? Hope you can find a way to fix it or get another one... |

Bike is officially a complete loss. Next step is to heal up and see where it goes. I would like to get back on the horse and of course my first pick would be a Buell. Love that bike. Once we stopped for a quick break and found ourselves surrounded by Ducati's, Apprillia's and BMW's. And who's bike drew the crowd? Yes that right, the Ulysses. |

Sounds like the cager is gonna buy you a new bike due to his ignorance...at least, that's the fight I'd put up. There's still a couple dozen Ulysses' out there... Glad you're OK - truly amazing. ATGATT, I assume? Put up a good fight; don't back down. I'm guessing the cager got cited? If it turns out like last year when the wife's car got T-boned in a similar situation, the other lady's insurance told our insurance "just tell us what size check to write". They knew their client was in the wrong, and the City PD backed it up with a couple citations. Be glad you're OK...but don't give in to something if you think it isn't enough. |

First of all, glad you're okay - - any material item can be replaced, even our "Limited Edition" Buells. Secondly, as Ratbuell and others have said, fight hard full reimbursement... Third, (and hope this doesn't sound too bad, too soon), are you interested in selling the airbox cover? Not to sound like an "ambulance chaser", but think of it as your bike living on through others... (Message edited by PNW_ULY on June 08, 2010) (Message edited by PNW_ULY on June 08, 2010) |

You should see if you can buy the bike back from the Insurance company. It would make for a great builder or a great parts bike. |

Finally got some pictures of the wrecked Uly and it actually survived fairly will but they did total it. The parts list was very long. As for the fuse, first and only time the Uly ever did anything but start and run perfectly. It was a hot day and the fuse box lid was to hot to handle with bare hands when I pulled over. Fuse was simply blown, replaced with spare and I was on my way again. Gas level was low as I was on the end of my ride. No extras at all on the bike except for the RH Scoops which I added. Who knows. And then it gets totaled on the way home. |

So, is it too early to politely start fishing for parts? Probably. That would be tasteless. Dibs on the belt! |

Bike was taken by the insurance company and will be auctioned off by Insurance Auto Auction. They mentioned that it would take several weeks or longer for it come up. In fact they might not be able to until my case is closed. Sorry, I could not get any parts. I kept thinking to myself, there is a perfectly good drive belt there which I know a fellow Buell'er could use. Dang it. |

Whoever gets the bike will need them anyway... sounds like it is salvageable. |

Woah. Getting a 41mph in a 25mph ticket yesterday suddenly seems trivial in comparison. ~jammer |
