Was out riding today with a buddy and getting ready to head up a curvy hill riding semi aggressive. Wound it out in 2nd and when upshifting to third missed the shift and when I gave it gas it was like it was in a "false neutral" when this happened the bike engine just went flat and when I tried to shift again and give it gas the engine just muddled down and made "bleeeeeeh" choking itself out noises and eventually the engine just died. Pulled clutch in and hit the starter, but the bike would not fire. As I was sitting in the middle of a turn, I hurriedly got off the bike and turned it around on foot then got back on and coasted down the hill. Tried to let the clutch out to see if it would push start, but it still would not roll over. Pulled off to the side, shut off the ignition and looked around the engine. Could not see anything, so I turned on ignition went to neutral and it cranked right over. Rode fine the rest of the day. Is it possible with the missed shift it just dumped to much fuel and flooded the engine ? Anyone else had this occur ? | ||

Maybe the tip-over sensor lied to the computer and said you crashed? What if the sensor was a little loose? | ||

I had the same thought of it could possibly be the tip over sensor. Just odd how it happened with the missed up-shift and all. I am hoping it was just something that occured due to me missing the shift and hitting a false neutral while dumping too much gas. It sue left me sitting dead in a bad blind spot in a turn. Bank Angle Sensor did come to mind when reading your post. The cycle of the key resets this a think. Do these have a cut off/out if over revved? |
