I am in the middle of doing a DIY service on my ULY and I'm trying to figure out what type of air filter I have. The part # is 29388-02YB. There is a second # on it also, 662173. I did a search on this site and came up with the first #, but only that it is a discontinued part. The filter looks to have fiberglass in it. Is it washable or do I need to just get another one? | ||

But what type of filter is it? It it paper or one that can be washed and reused? If it can be washed, what is the correct procedure for it? | ||

Don't tell The Navigator but I run mine through her dishwasher. I don't let it run the "dry cycle", I just let it air dry overnight. I do not recommend this procedure to you or anyone else, however. Not because it's hard on the filter either. Compressed air IS hard on the filter. | ||

That is a P&A part number, so its probably the older Buell race filter. | ||

Paper/fiberglass element filters can't be washed, the element swells rendering the filter useless. Try it. (Message edited by someday on June 01, 2010) |
