I am in the middle of doing a DIY service on my ULY and I'm trying to figure out what type of air filter I have. The part # is 29388-02YB. There is a second # on it also, 662173. I did a search on this site and came up with the first #, but only that it is a discontinued part. The filter looks to have fiberglass in it. Is it washable or do I need to just get another one?

All air filters are washable until they rip or degrade.

But what type of filter is it? It it paper or one that can be washed and reused? If it can be washed, what is the correct procedure for it?

Don't tell The Navigator but I run mine through her dishwasher. I don't let it run the "dry cycle", I just let it air dry overnight. I do not recommend this procedure to you or anyone else, however. Not because it's hard on the filter either. Compressed air IS hard on the filter.

That is a P&A part number, so its probably the older Buell race filter.

Paper/fiberglass element filters can't be washed, the element swells rendering the filter useless. Try it.
