Well I took a ride to the Sierra's in Northern Cal. about 100 miles one way with no issues. Stayed the night and the next morning rode another 30 miles to about 6000 ft. elevation rode up a small rd. hit deep snow and could go no farther. I took a nice break enjoying the scenery, O.K. time to head back, I hit the starter click click clickety click UH OH!

Thank God I was on a grade so I bump started it, rode back to friends house about 35 miles without issue, however when I hit the offramp engine lite comes on get to the house won't start back up. Check connections all good so disconnect battery and charge a couple hours, takes a full charge. I get ready to head home hit the starter turns over strong and fires up. Stop for fuel about 30 miles down the road starts but does'nt turn over as strong.

Ride home all interstate about a 100 miles without incident hit the offramp rpm and speed drops engine light comes on, get home shut it down fan comes on weak, then cuts off after 5 seconds turn key hit starter and click clickety click sh**. So what do you think battery, 77 connector, voltage regulator, stator? I should mention the bike is an 07 with 12000 miles, original battery and I installed comfort kit before leaving. I guess I should get a voltmeter and try to fumble through it, not the best wrench in the world but can do some things it's just electrical stuff scares me a bit. Bike has been trouble free till now, hope I didn't F something up when installing comfort kit.

$5 it's the 77 connector. Detailed "how to fix" instructions here:

Next chance you get, put a volt meter on it so a charging system problem doesn't bite you in the rear again. Ft_bstrd's technique makes for a tidy install. Here's the meter he used:

Here's his installation thread:

That's probably the surest way to make sure it never happens again if that's the problem. You'll just have to do it over if you ever have to replace your stator.

There is an updated connector available from Buell as a kit. The kit also comes with a new stator if you ever get one.
