Hello

Some of these photos show so much over packing. OMG

Lighten the load esp. those big duffle bags.

Chas

I am on the Left, RS is BMW F800GS

The reason for the big duffel bags is to fit longer length gear that will not fit in the side cases.
My tent is 6" diameter by 25" long role (6 lbs, 3 oz.)
My sleeping pad is a 6" diameter by 26" role (7 lbs, 8 oz.) (But it inflates to 4" thick : ) )
My chair is 4" diameter by 21" long role. (3 lbs?)
Since there was room left in the bag I added my rain gear for easy access. (maybe 3 more lbs).
And the bag has a side pocket so I put my bug spray in it and my small tri-pod for camera. (weighs less then bug spray).
The complete duffel bag weight around 25 lbs.

The RS bag contained cooking gear and some food. complete bag weighed 15 lbs.
The LS bag contained cloths. Complete bag weighted 10 lbs.
The top case contained laptop, sleeping bag and sneakers and a light I wear on my head at night. (maybe 10 lbs)
This was enough gear for 5 days riding, and it weighed 60 lbs total.
And all the way at the bottom in the two operator tubes I carried 1 liter of water each.

I did notice that I the bike would turn right easier then left on the sweeping blacktop corners. It just felt like it always wanted to drift to the outside of the left hand corners. Could it have been the fact the left bag was 5 lbs heaver then the right bag?

Chas - Sorry, I couldn't leave the beer at home! All in all it was better than having a passenger back there.

I figured the cooler at 50 lbs, chairs at 10 each, tent and camp pads like 20. Trunk had 2 pounds of chips, 2 pounds of bread, and a 2 pound fleece sleeping bag. Saddle bags probably had 15-20 lbs each. and the tank bag was probably 15. So all in all, around 175 lbs extra. It handled like it was loaded, but not so poorly that it was unsafe.
