Hello All,

I got my 190/55/17 Scorpion Trail Mounted and installed this mornin. I will get a short 100 mile ride in Sunday morn befor our Memorial Day weekend BBQ.

That Pirelli Angel I took off was scary thin! Thinner than the Sync was. I mean I pushed on the worn spot and thought my fingernail was gonna penatrate it sept for the steel belts. I put my hands on a worn out PR2 and its worn out carcuss was much tougher than the angel. Hummm?

The tire looks real nice on the bike. It seens to be about 3/4 of an inch overall taller than the 180. So I will see what the GPS claims the spedo error is and report that as well.

So the rear is a tad taller than it use to be. Hope the differance in hight does not throw off the steering since the angle of attack will be slightly different . The front fork rake will be changed a tad. May soften the rear shock a tad to compensate?

Test ride done, Bags and tall shield on.

Well all, I went and pushed the Uly hard to get the new Scorpion Trail loosened up and use to me. HAhahaaaaaa. Did some real nice and clean sweepers on concrete indicating 95 mph and boy does the Scorpion Trail hook up nicely. Even with the front Angel still installed.

The slightly larger diameter does not change the speedo more than 1 mph so the speedo and GPS are still right in sync, right in sync till ya get up around 95 mph or so. I will explain and you tell me.

Nice long 1 1/2 mile straight away with fairly smooth asphault surface. Bust up to 90 and just keep rolling into it in 4th gear. The GPS and Speedo say 90 mph, ya get to 100 indicated on the speedo, gps says 97 mph, hit 105 indicated and the GPS says 101 mph, indicated 110 and the gps says 106 and when I had to shut it down at 115 indicated the gps max read 110 mph. As I slow down after shifting to 5th gear I decel from 110 indicated and the gps is right back in sync from 110 down to 80 mph. WILD!

So guys I think I found my tire wear issues. Anything over 90 mph with bags and tall shield and I start to get some rear tire slipage. I think it just starts to hammer the tire to smitherines. With no bags on the GPS gladly indicates a max with tall shield on of 119 and has seen 121 mph but I was hanging on so tight due to a speed wobble I didn't look down. Hhahhaaaaaa.

So have any of you experianced this slippage issue? I have a friend who use to road race back in the 80's and he says a 5% slippage is good because it scrubs off the rubber and keeps fresh stick stuff in contact with the road. True or not? He claimed this was the IDEAL tire wear for the track. CRAP I am on the street here! HAhahaaaaaaaa.

The New tire in the 190/55/17 worked outstanding and now if I can slow down I may get a few miles out of it. Hummm?

No, no problems with slippage unless I hit sand. Of course I never ride at the speeds you seem so comfortable with. Hope you don't get a ticket an end up in jail or worse crash.

The new tire is larger causing the speedo to be off by a small percentage. As speed increases that small percentage translates into a greater error. For example, a 3% error at 70mph is 2.1mph error, at 110 it's 3.3 etc.

I doubt your getting slippage at high speeds. Just my guess.

Edit: Just reread your post and realized that you had no error on decel. Guess I'm wrong. Crazy stuff.

I was yakin at a fellow rider a little while ago and he says the GPS did not keep up with me. OH! Like a Buell will out run a Satilite? HAHahaaaaaaaa. DAMN!

He says he can be deceling and his GPS is still climbing. SO Maybe its data lag? HAhahaa.

All I know is when ya ride fast the tire goes away fast. The OEM sync went away at an ALARMING .010 or 10/1000 of an inch every 100 miles and sometime more! I gotta slow down!

More likely that the shape of the tire changes when the bike is loaded down.

I would wager you could make it more noticeable if you reduce the pressure on the rear tire.

I am running 38 psi for now. If ya look at the GPS verse indicated speed I ma have additional ammo for a slip issue. If I ride the bike up to 95 plus I start to get a slight wobble in the bike. Ya grab hard and squeze the tank with the thighs and its bearable up to top end. It starts around 95 mph. Ya roll out of the trottle and the wobble subsides for the most part. HAhaaaaaaa. CRAP! I need to just slow down or lose weight and get a C14 or something like it. HAhahaaaaaaa.
