i am wanting soft side bags for the uly. i have the triple tail bag, which i adore, but it is a pain not being able to swing my leg over. i had the buell blast bags with my thumper and loved em. the uly side cases are just too big for me. anybody using something more compact? if so, what's working?

Lots of choices! search around on the web. Many sizes and manufactures. Really depends on your cash situation : ) Chase Harper makes nice bags, and are made in USA I believe. I always tell people to look on ebay for used ones, saw some great chase harpers once for less than $70.00.

I use cortech:

I bought them for my KLR, worked great. Then put them on my X1 lightning, worked just fine. And now use them on my XT. They work well as a midsize bag, when I don't want the journeys sticking way out there. Fit on the bike fine, and the XT rack line them up perfectly. They are a good bag, at a decent price - look around for better deals than company site. Turned out to be pretty darn tuff too. Have survived a fall on the KLR, and a nasty, nasty wreck on the lightning. - Did tear off the front left tie strap though.

Good luck : )

we've had the the tourmaster sport bags for the blast for a few years and got another set for the xb's with the scg(thank you bumpus, shameless plug) and outside of the raincovers being a little cheap the bags in general are pretty good. if i were to get bags for the uly, that tribag looks really great. i'm sure there's other things out there but this is just my experience. also have factory bags for the m2. which are pretty nice also.

i may end up with those cortechs. i am a sucker for stuff with a pegasus on it, so was considering the blast bags or the lightning bags if either would fit. my triple tail bag is pretty versatile [ today i used it as a backpack when i picked up another uly seat to strap to the tail where the bag was.] it would be nice to have more options though. thanks for the input guys.

I also have the cortech bags. Took them off my klr. I only use my hard Buell bags for when I need to take lots of stuff. If not then the cortechs and they cover up mounting racks of buell bags and look pretty good.

I have a set of Rev Pak soft bags, (the ones with the stiffener inside). I ordered a pair Hepco Becker Gobis' and the side brackets from HD. I think I paid about $160 for the Rev Paks. There about a year old, on the bike for maybe 3 months, total. If you want 'em, $75. Let me know, I'll take off for now 'till the Gobis come in.

Chase-Haper backed up their product 100% when I picked up a used set but spent a God-awful amount of time devising straps & stuff so that I could use them in a position where they did not cover up the reflectors.
Chase-Harper heap, plenty waterproof
