I searched around for an answer to this one, but couldn't find a definitive answer. Which RAM mount bases seem to work best on the Ulysses. I've seen the ones that screw to the top of the reservoir, or just clamp around the bars. What do the experienced people say?

I have used the one that mounts around the bar it lets you mount things lower,I mounted a zumo .
The master cylinder mount was way to high.

I have the master cylinder mount, and like it. Too high when in a crouch, but great when in the upright position.

I use the 11mm Hole Base

11mm Hole fits under most mirror stems.

I think its the 11mm

you could also use the
RAM Base for Motorcycle M8 Handlebar Clamp.

i got mine here

I mounted the handle bar ram mount. It's on the left side and seems to be in a great position for the zumo. I was afraid I'd break the master cylinder in a fall with it mounted there.

Here is the one I put on my XR650L.
It is a Ball, that a comes with 3 different length bolts, that replace one of the handle bar mount bolts. I don't know if the Buell has metric handlebar mount threads. My XR has a rox riser setup on it.

I like both styles.
Don't make me pick just one.

Towpro, I like that.

Anybody know what the Uly's bar clamps are threaded?

Sorry I don't have pictures, but I've experimented with a few different options. My Zumo came with the mount that replaces the clamp on the brake lever. This set up is about the cleanest among the options, but even with the shortest arm, the GPS still sat too high for my liking. I then changed this mount out for the brake clamp with two ball positions, thinking I would be able to find a better position for the GPS. With the GPS mounted on the lower ball the position was better and I was able to use the upper ball to mount a camera. However, over time I still felt the GPS sat too high and out in the wind for my liking. I really wanted to get the GPS tucked under my ZG tall windscreen. I looked at all other options and finally went with the u-bolt clamp and mounted it on the handle bar. This arrangement isn't as clean as the brake lever mount, but the position of the GPS is perfect. It tucks well under the screen and doesn't interfere with any of the other instruments or controls. For position, I find this arrangement the best.

I had it mounted to the handlebar clamp, using the U-bolt which put the GPS just above the crossbar before I went with Rox risers. It was kind of a pain getting the U-bolt under the handlebar and centering it on the clamp. I now have it mounted to the handlebar alone between the risers, which still puts it next to the handlebar cross bar. You kind of have to fish the gas cap out when its time to fill up, but nor too bad. I'll post a pic tonight when I get home if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about.

Cross-post: a Nuvi 500 with a RAM RAP-274 stealth installation. Works just fine with the OEM handlebars- the crossbar only obscures the top 1/4" of the screen.
