I changed my pipe back to the stock pipe while I was doing my oil change and I have some observations I'd like to share.

The bike is now more responsive under 2500 RPMs.
It's a whole lot quiter now and sound like a lawn mower again.
It is much smoother running across the powerband. Not as much vibration.
I think it lost some of it's top end, it could just be a noise thing.

I think I'll leave it this way for a couple of months and then change it back again.

Are your neighbors thanking you?

Yeah, I thought of that this morning when I started it to drive to work. "Boy that thing is quiet, I bet the neighbors cant even hear it. Stealth mode is good." They never complained about the other pipe. I don't sit in the driveway and rev it.

Watch your speedo. I bet you're wrong - it just feels smoother and "masks" the power delivery.

hint: I made the same change on my '06 a few months ago...the Elves knew what they were doing on these mufflers!

I like my quiet pipe, too. May I ask what your 'loud' pipe was before the change?

Just switched mine this weekend. Definitely have to watch the speed. It sneaks up on you when you're used to so much more noise. Smooth and quiet.

My loud pipe was a semi gutted stock pipe with a glass pack internal and an adjustable baffle and a billet tip insert similar to the Jardine quiet insert. It sounds real good but its much louder than stock.
