I can't get the thing off!

'08 XT, standard 6 piston caliper. Loosened fender/fork guard, removed bolts, pressed pistons back into caliper. Can't clear the mount bosses on the fork.
Am I missing something?

Take the pads out, close one eye, hold your tongue just right, and it will come out eventually.

Make sure the wheel "spokes" are positioned to allow wiggle room for the caliper, too.

I personally would have just taken the front wheel off.

Hmmm....never tried to take the caliper off without removing the wheel.

Service manual procedure states at 2.24 that you have to remove the brake line first , then the bolts and slide it down and off. Seems like you should be able to slide the caliper down and off without removing the brake line...but I've always been pulling the wheel when messing with the caliper.
