I took the time today to finish the install of the comfort kit. The shroud part of the kit was put on hold when we got the bike last fall for my son. I've of course gone through the install on my 06' last year but decided to approach it differently than how I did mine. To make things really easy on myself I removed the battery, battery pan, and then removed both side frame rails. They hold up the rear of the bike. To keep the tail end of the bike from sagging I just strapped it to the garage door opener framework. Those side rails came off with 4 bolts a piece and the right side has the rear brake reservoir attached to it. Once those two babies are detached it is a easy thing to perfectly position that shroud in place. Believe me, that is the way the directions should have been. Everything is so easy to see when those rails are off and out of the way. My boy will be happier than a clam since the last ride we did cooked a 1st degree burn onto his right thigh. Shouldn't anymore. |

Thanks for the info and insight. I've been putting mine off. I have my kit still in the box unopened. I got a RSS from a guy that threw it in when I bought his highway bars. And I made a fast and dirty "shield" out of multiple layers of tin foil, and gorilla tape to hold it in place. It has worked so far, but as the days get hotter, I believe I be wanting the shroud. Thanks again |
