OKC, do you have the bracket kit on yours? Heard that helps?

Looks good Blackdog

Interesting. Mine doesn't rattle and I don't have the bracket kit on mine. I'm using the tall Buell screen too.

I have the brackets, brace, and large windshield from Palmer and I love it. No wind and no turbulence. Just took sometime to go through all the adjustments to find the ones the work perfect for me.

Mine should be here any day now! I went with the powder-coated black option. I can't wait!

I got the BMW style adjuster knobs with mine. I highly recommend.

Yeah I opted out of the adjuster knobs. I figured once I got it set, I'd never touch it again.

We'll see if I made the right decision or not.

Mike: It took me two tries to get it where I really wanted it. Now that I have it set, I haven't touched it. But, I got the knobs regardless, since I didn't know if I would be adjusting it much.

I've got the Palmer brackets with the adjuster knobs, and have played with it countless times before I finally got the Buell tall windshield. Now I seem to have it set where I actually like it.

A word of caution for those of you who are new to these brackets - BELIEVE IT when the instructions tell you to adjust the little metal "ears" that the windshield rests on so that they fit the curve/shape of the windshield. I only kind of half did it for the first two Buell shields I put on, and both windshields cracked across the top "ear" of the brackets. When I got the tall shield (the third one), I took some time and actually did a pretty good job of making the "ears" fit the windshield shape, and no problems since. The worst part is that the Palmer instructions even SAY for us to adjust the brackets to fit the windshield - I just didn't do it better than haphazardly the first couple of times. Maybe I need better instructions - ones that maybe say, "HEY! This means you, dummy!"

Oh well. At least it's doing good now. I'm not trying to belittle Palmer's stuff, either. The blame all rests with me, from what I can see. Sigh...

Thanks for the heads up! That definitely sounds like something I would half ass.

I didn't order the support brackets with my Palmer mounts and it worked OK. I ordered a set of the supports over the winter and they make a large improvement in the shaking of the windshield.

I set mine all the way up and all the way forward, really cuts down the helmet buffeting for me.

Do those folks who have this or similar brackets notice an improvement in fuel economy? It seems like you would/could pick up a couple mpgs if the wind was flowing smoothly around you rather than blasting directly against your chest and getting all that resistance.

I haven't done any scientific data, but my XB12SS with Palmer brackets + tall windscreen has gotten 75mpg, and it can easily get 60-65mpg typical. Unfortunately the bike was put in coma before I could do shield-less tests, but yes if the air is flowing better around you, your fuel economy will improve.
