I'm planning on painting my side and top case piece that has the round Buell stickers on it.

Is there any trick to removing the stickers and being able to re-use them? Can I buy just the stickers?

I e-mailed American Sport Bike with the inquiry. My frame paint comes in Tuesday and I am torn between that color and a satin black.

Thanks

I just ordered the Ulysses emblems on the side and wind screen, dealer called me and their in.
you should be able to get the Buell emblems
90098-05Y they are only 3.50

if you want to pry off the ones on your cases try a heat from a hair dryer than peel them off.

I carefully masked around mine. I have painted some a couple of years ago for other folks who had already removed them, they got new ones from Hepco Becker. I don't know if they still service them through HD.

I clipped a deer, the next day in the light i took a look around and that was one of the few things i found and kept, it's still in my truck.
not the recommended method, LOL

Apply either Googone (Wallymart) or WD-40 to the top of the Buell circle several times, letting it seep behind to soften the glue/foam double sided tape. Take you time. If you want to use heat try a hair dryer instead of a heat gun as the temp. is not as hot (around plastic saddlebags!) and will do the trick.

Heat and a dental pick (or similar small prying device) will remove 'em just fine. I've re-used my set twice now, but do have a spare set in case I decide to repaint my bags in either a different color (thinking about textured black), or doing the orange the *right* way and not with plastic model spraypaint LOL.

Make sure to get the right set for your bags, though. I want to say the Journey bags are a 45mm circle, and the Outdoorsman bags have a 52mm circle....

Are the Buell stickers for the Outdoorsman bags available through H/D dealer?

Ratbuell: If you go with the textured black how about a write up of your experience? How you like it etc. I suppose you also mean you sre going to use th eKrylon fusion stuff? i am contemplating the same, but would like someone to jump into the water first

Pso

I know a guy who painted is CBR1000 with the texture black truck bed liner Rust-O-Leum paint.

I just sprayed my truck bed with that last weekend. The stuff looks great and is amazingly forgiving. I put my hand on the wheel well about 30 seconds after it was sprayed, just wiped the smudge away with a towel and painted over it and it looks mint. I even sprayed over some water drops and you can't even tell. That stuff is amazing and makes for a real rugged look.

I'm not sold on satin black for the inserts so I think I am going to try the Buell frame paint first, if it looks like dung I'll go satin black.

I'm partway there - I did the gray rubstrips quite a while ago on my bags, and it's pretty near a dead-nuts match to the black plastic:

Hm. Looking at that pic...maybe doing the square recess (where the red reflector is) in orange, to tie the bag to the bike color-wise, and doing the (kick-prone) top panel in the black...might look good?

What is the red around the seal? A different weatherstrip? Does it work better?
