Well, I just received my set of DDM HID's. For some reason I thought it would be cool to have a combination of one 35W for the low beam and a 55 for the high, so's not to go around blinding everyone while riding at night in local roads. In the box are the two bulbs and ballasts. one ballast (the 55W) is physically larger than the other, but there is no physical difference or number reference on the bulbs apart from H7. Is it same to assume that the 55W and 35W bulbs are the same and the only difference is in the ballast?

Yes the bulbs are the same, the difference is in the ballast, it pumps out more juice.

Next dumb HID question please : )

Oh Great bucket of HD Knowledge,

How do you think an HD will hold up to the vibrations of off road riding compared to a normal bulb. I am thinking of putting HD's in my Dual Sport also.

HID's have no filament to break, they should hold up better than a halogen lamp.

The dual sport uses H4's.

They make 2 different h4's.
One with a fake high beam just to pass inspection.

One has a electro magnet in the base that moves the bulb between High and low beam.
I want to try the magnet version.

If you can find an H4 with no high beam at all, just a straight light bulb, I would go that route.

I tried the magnet version and was none too pleased. The shield blocks out 50% of the light output on low beam, and 20% on high beam.

That means 2 things:
High beam is brighter than low beam.
But
Neither is as bright as a standard HID bulb.
