While the collective mental firepower of Harley-Davidson, in the midst of losing money at about the rate water passes the Hoover Dam spillway, scurries to recant notices baring employees from riding motorcycles because they are unsafe and their marketing gurus strive to connive and convince us that younger folks are drawn by fat tires . . . . Buell, funded from Erik's own pocket is shining like they have never shone.

Folks . . . who have never owned a Buell, ecstatic about the Harley-Davidson connection no longer constraining Buell to dance like a monkey tethered to the corporate stupid string, can't wait to see what Erik has in store.

The good news is that . . while some may laugh . . that the "200 year plan" . . .well . . IS. The 1125R, in spite of the intro glitches, shows the mindset and represents (it was pretty much designed circa 1986)a glimpse at some of the amazing stuff in the mental pipeline.

I'm really excited. I just spent several days with Erik and the guy . . personally, emotionally, creativity and physically is on fire and at the best I've seen him in years.

I can't wait to see the reaction when . . .even ONE of his "visions" becomes public.

We live in amazing times and wander in the midst of some of the most amazing opportunities of our lifetimes.

Granted, it's not anywhere NEAR on the same level...but I'm also thrilled to be free from HD - Court, you and I spoke on the phone about that a little bit ago. Every day, it's reinforced.

I cannot WAIT to see what comes next. I can only imagine what's bouncing around inside the man's head, that's never seen the light of day (and therefore never been considered "HD Intellectual Property" : )).

That experimental bike is awesome. Love the double-core exhaust, very slick...and the gills on the pods? Looks like something from The Matrix. Love it!

Those are sweet, but remember, the bike that put Buell into the mainstream public eye was the Uly, not the 1125. racing and sportbikes are great, but their market is limited, for the most part, to the 25 - 40 crowd and their usefulness is limited to the track and the 2 hour Sunday ride in the twisties. Of course I will remain hopeful, but I just don't see anything in EB's current motorcycling philosophy that makes me think that adventure touring or sport touring will ever again be a target market of his. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see any signs of it.

I tend to agree with the above; however reality is, you got to have something, to sell, that will pay the bills, including R&D and racing...
So to that end, maybe we will see a sport tour or adventure bike. Sooner than later, I hope.
Please save me from buying a Moto Guzzi.

great looking bike but i also think that having the sport tourer is a good way of keeping the money coming. there isn't any reason why he can't incorporate a tourer into the 1125(1190)

Erik lives and loves racing. It’s in his DNA. Success in racing will just bring more R&D dollars. If Erik has the right backing I can see Sport Touring, Adventure Bikes, Motocrossers, great street bikes and successful race bikes, Dirt and Street bikes even beginner bikes.

The 200 year plan is alive and well.

Hey, what is Erik’s main ride? a Ulysses…….

I hate what H-D has become (AMF version 2.0) but I would have never been able to get my first Buell if it weren't for H-D's tampering.
My X1 attracted me away from the sportsters.
It was cheaper, faster, more sexy.

I, for one, loved the "compromised" sport bikes that H-D made Erik sell.

I always have blathered that they should have never stopped production of the M2.
they should have just said "this is now the new sportster"
The ACTUAL new sportster on the other hand weighs as much as a goldwing used to when I started riding and still puts out the same power as it did when I started riding.

I have always seen Buell as the flame front and H-D as the coals that stay burning in the background in larger volume.

Froggy, I had to laugh when I read that because I've been hearing that same statement for over 40 years now! Doesn't every motorcycle company has an air-cooled V-Twin rod engine out there now?

Water cooled bikes make a bigger boom. If you want a really big boom and air cooled - go with a gas turbine!

Sport bikes make a statement but tour bikes sell. What people want is new Uly XT
or a twin Tiger. Light but comfortable with good performance. I went from an Electraglide to Sportster to Uly. With a few other bikes mixed in like a Beemer, KLR, Nighthawk and a Scrambler. If Eric doesn't build it, I hope Can Am or Victory does.
